designed, delivered and created a Women Empowering Women Workshop on International Women’s day, 8th march I’ll happily count this goal as having been completed!!
:-)
The event was a huge success and we got lots of very positive feedback, and a lot of media coverage (not all of which was positive but I’m not complaining!!)
I feel really proud that I got this together, and in a really short space of time.
it was fun, challenging and exausting and I’ll never attempt to do something so big in such a short time frame, ever again!!!
I’ve learned lots of useful things, gained so much more confidence in myself, my organisational, leadership, public speaking skills, knowledge etc.
I know now I’m good at what I do! :-)
Next week I’m having a meeting with the woman I did this with to create an action plan for the next one we’ll do!
:-)

and ended up being in a classroom with 2 other tutors, and as it turns out not many students!!
We sat and chatted for ages, all of us had lived in Germany for a long time, 1 lady Eva was German! So we had lots in common, also Eva was doing a Personal development course too, and she asked me if we could talk about getting together to work together!! :-D
We met up the next day and we’ve started working on a couple of things… this is exactly what I needed. I feel so much more productive in a team!! :-D

From a lady I rang about a week ago, regarding night classes in a local school, I’m going to sign up for the Italian course, as I want to continue learning more Italian so that the next time I visit Italy with my bf I will at least be able to converse a tiny bit with his family!
Anyway… she rang me back and gave me info about the new term, which starts at the end of the month… and I asked her about the possibility of delivering my personal development course. Unfortunatley I’ve missed the deadline to be included in the brochure, but she says if I give her some info she can put it on a poster to display next week as they’re having open nights on Mon, Tues, or Weds. As I’ll be relying on people who will have come to the school to sign up for a particular course, to decide to do my course instead of, or in addition to the original course I’m not sure how big a response I’ll get. But at the very least it is another opportunity to get exposure and information about what I’m doing out there. There has to be a minimum of 8 people signing up to the class before it will run.
Also, even if it doesn’t run this term, I’ll be in the brochure for next term. :-)
I was at a life coach last week, and I talked about the possibility of trying to run my course again and she guided me into agreeing to advertise the course again on my website. I’m not sold on this course of action, but I have decided to put something up on the website, I have got the domain registered, and although the whole site is not ready it is a good idea to post even one page, for basic information, and update it as I create more pages….
I feel positive about this opportunity.. -D

the response I expected, why?
Because I didn’t do the marketing I knew I needed to do, but also because I think I timed it wrong!
Now… I need to decide if I should have another bash and deliver it end jan/beginning of feb, or redesign it and go for another theme or decide it was a failure!
I think option 3 is out for me, but I am nervous about spending more money on marketing! gulp!
I need to think about this for a few days before I make a decision…

to the fact that I’ve gotten no one signing up to this course now.. it may well be that 5 people sign up over the next few days, and if that happens I’ll be delighted (Although a little surprised!)
What do I think went wrong? Possibly the timing- around christmas which I thought would help, may have hindered. Not getting flyers out into each household inthe area.
Realising that I need to pay someone to do marketing for me- it’s not something I can do on my own!
Perhaps my friend B might be interested in helping me for payment??? mmm… think that’s a good idea to talk to her about this.
I am open to suggestions and support… if anyone has any ideas?

I got one more phone call, but that only totals 2!
I’m thinking about throwing more money at it, advertising wise, and then again I think perhaps at this stage it’s best to leave it and use as a learning experience, next one I do HAS to have a lot more marketing gone into it… and that means I’ve got to pay for it to be done!! I hadn’t anticipated that expenditure (Gulp!) but it’s gotta be done! I think I’ll focus on getting the websites together, because that will be key in future marketing.
I could be tempted into feeling disheartened, that this business idea ain’t gonna work, but I know that it is and it will… I have no doubt in my mind that the skills and abilities I have to offer are useful to others, and will be a great tool in earning an income for myself! :-)

from a recruitment company so I decided to send out the information for my course to this company.
I got back an email saying do not send any more spam. I was quite taken aback by this so I sent an email explaining I’d received an email from this address and I genuinely thought the course might have been of intereset.
the response I received?
The course is for gobshites, the wisdom you talk about is known as common sense, you’ll fill the room but I won’t be one of them don’t send any more emails.
I responded by saying: You are rude, and it’s common sense being polite doesn’t cost anything. I have clients whom I would refer to agencies like yours, rest assured your will not be on my “Recommend” list.
I felt quite hurt by his horrible email. Jeez if you’re not interested fine but why be so rude?
I feel angry about this response, I know it’s beyond my control, I know I should “let go” but this guy was an idiot!! He’s spent more time replying to my email sent in good faith than he would have done just letting it go.

and still no telephone calls!!! eek!! I’m starting to get worried… I need to focus on the marketing, which obviously I’ve underestimated!! That’s ok… all part of the learning curve, but if I don’t get any participants soon this course won’t be running at all!!

and left flyers and posters, nice bank manager is going to display them for me :-D
Also dropped some flyers and a poster into a hairdresser accross the road, and promtply left when I noticed a traffic warden putting a parking ticket on my car!!!!!!!! I was parked on the foot path, which I thought was the safest place to park without disrupting the traffic… or the pedestrians (The path was about 20 foot wide!) but no… apparently if I’d parked on the double yellow lines on the road, obstructing the traffic she’d have given me 5 mins before writing a ticket but footpath is instant ticket!!!! grrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!
