I don’t know whether to choose a binder or a journal. Binders are eaiser but journals look nicer. If only you could magically zap more pages into a journal sighs.
How I did it: I had chose book after book, binder after binder. I thought that if I used a binder that I could always add to it. And I thought that if I used a book it would be more authentic in appearance.
A binder allowed me to take out that which I did not need while a journal style book would force me to track my journey.
I realized that I would learn from my mistakes. I decided to go with a journal. I found a little book plain and simple with a nice cover. I cast spells of protection, insight, clarity and asked for knowledge with understanding.
And I was surprised. My hand shakes with the energy when ever I put pen to paper.
Lessons & tips: It is a personal journey creating your BOS. But the book itself is just a shell.
Wether it is a marble composition notebook from Walgreens, a stylish spiral from Barnes and Nobles or a leather tooled wood embossed aged thing you bought custom made from some guy who claimed to be the reincarnation of Merlin's great aunt the only thing that matters is the energy you breath into it.
Resources: meditation, intuition, lots of mistakes ;)

To create an incense portal for summoning the ancestor spirits from the otherworld, you will need an altar complete with pictures and items to honor them. In a strongly protected circle, place lavender, cinnamon, and wormwood on the coals.
Call out only to benevolent and loving ancestor spirits by saying:
Blood of my blood, you spirits of love,
Come from below and from above;
Entities loving who wish me well,
Come to this circle when I sound the bell. “
Intone (ring) a bell three times and welcome the ancestors’ spirits. Afterwards, ring the bell seven times to send them back through the portal so you can close your circle.
Before time was, there was the One. The One was all, and all was teh One. And the vast expeanse was known as the universe was the One, all-wise, all-prevading, all-powerful, eternally changing. And space moved, the One molded energy into twin forms, equal but opposite, fashioning the Goddess and God from the One and of the One. Teh Goddess and God stretched and gave thanks to the One but darkness surrendered them. They were alone, solitary save for the One. So they formed into gasses into moons; they sprinkled the universe with whirling globes and so all was given shape by the hands of the Goddess and God, light arose and the sky was illuminated by a billion suns. And the Goddess and God, staisfied by their works, rejoiced and make love and were one. From their union sprang the seeds of life and of the human race, so that we might achieve incarnation upon Eart. The Goddess chose the Moon as Her symbbol and the God the Sun as his symbol, to remind the inhabitants of Earth of their fashioners. All are born, live, die and are reborn beneath the sun and moon, all things come to pass there under and all occure with the blessings of the One as has been the way of existence befor time was.
I just can’t figure out if I want a binder (which would be oh somuch easier, yet cheesey in a way) or use a nice blank journal (which just seems so much classier, but you cant add more once you run out of room ) Decisions decisions…
I’ve been putting off the major processes of my BOS for the sole reason that I’ve been so uncertain of the format I should use. I had a large blank sketchbook for a while but I ruined it one day by knocking a bottle of ink over onto it. I guess that’s a sign that fancy calligraphy is out of the question. heh. I think I’ve decided that I want to type my BOS in a nice-looking, readable typeface, since my handwriting is atrocious and while I believe in the concept of your own handwriting adding magickal significance to a BOS, I also want it to be legible.
Today I went out and bought 50 clear plastic sheet protectors, a simple black 3-ring binder, and a bunch of acid-free parchment and textured decorative paper (resembling handmade but obviously much easier to use). I think using sheet protectors will make my pages less likely to get ruined by wine, candle wax, oils, etc. I’ve got a number of pages typed out already, the basics; the Rede, some prayers and invocations, etc. I plan to illuminate them with silver and gold ink pens, and maybe a little colored pencil. I’m not very good with drawing, but tracing initial letters in gold and silver ink shouldn’t be difficult.
Last night I had this amaaaaaaaaaaaazing tarot reading and I didn’t make a record of it. I should have. I don’t know what’s stopping me. Maybe a waning moon? I just want the time to be right and a lot of nights by the time my daughter is asleep I’m just exhausted and I don’t stay up much later than her.
