How to go to Mexico

How I did it: I walked into a wonderfully priced rental from a woman who couldn't use her timeshare. It was the month of my birthday. No one else could or would go, so I grabbed it and found affordable tickets took off! Lessons & tips: Be open to new things. Spend time exploring, don't just shop and do touristy things. The people, generally are very nice Resources: I met a woman on the bus to downtown, who was also traveling alone, and she spent my birthday with me and we hung out for the last two days of her trip. I met a lot of locals and americans. |

BUT… good news, my mom is in Mexico right now and she LOVES it. She couldn’t bring my bf and I cause it’s a 23+ resort. However, they are changing it to a family resort in May so my mom has promised to take us both in October, which will be perfect because it will be our 1 year. YAYYY!

Looks like the trip will probably be in July. I will be going to Atlanta in June, for my sisters wedding, so it will be a busy (and expensive) summer. I’m pretty excited, and fuck the expense. You only live once, right? Also, we will be in the Yucatan peninsula in July. Read: very close to the equator in July. So, I plan to go to the tanning bed a few times before the trip ( I DON’T as a rule, so this is a big deal. lol), and I will be packing pretty light, since I’m not bringing any clothes :P

I was born, raised and educated in Mexico. I moved to the U.S. 5 years ago and have been going home at least once every year, except for last year. I would love to go somewhere tropical, like Cancun. A historical place like Guanajuato is also an option. I want to breathe the real freedom and peace, be around people of my ethnicity and hear Spanish all day long. I miss the Mexican middle class so much! my son will love to see Mazatlan again; we can eat sea food non-stop, hang out with other Mexicans of European descent.. my favorite… probably meet someone interesting :)
