CheatingSheila is wading through the muck
I’m taking a belly dancing class at the moment. i love it! I think this dance has been waiting for me. i still want to do the African dance, but belly dancing is now taking a priority.
How I did it: I took my first African dance class back in 2002 or 2003 while studying abroad in Ghana West Africa. I enjoyed it very much but found it somewhat difficult to take classes once I returned to the states.
I decided I wanted to get back into dancing about 2 years ago, but didn't find a class I liked until very recently.
Now I'm addicted and just love dancing for an hour on Tuesday and Thursdays.
Lessons & tips: Don't just say you want to dance like I did. It could take years to do it. Instead, put a plan in place about how you will research finding a class and then just do it!
Resources: Word of mouth and Meetup.com are some of the best ways to find a dance class near you.

I’m going to mark this goal off as done soon. I’ll have to progress to something like improve on my African dancing or just focus on my goal of learning to drum since I have yet to move forward with it.

I’m not sore after taking my African dance class!
That’s deffinitely a sign that I’m getting back into shape…

... and really enjoyed it. I tried pushing myself more than ever before and was so sweaty and tired half way through. Next time I’m going to preserve some of my energy so I don’t feel like I’m going to pass out!

... so I’ve taken two of the African Dance classes I wrote about previously and so far so good!
They are a bit more aerobics focused than I realized, but considering that I’m trying to lose 17lbs it works out in my favor ;-)
After each class my back has been killing me, but I’m hoping that will go away if I stick with it…

I’m finally going to an African dance class (tomorrow at 6:30pm). I’ll let you know how it goes!

The lady that does my hair told me about a couple of places where I can take African Dance classes. I missed the class last week, but I’m going to go to at least 1 or 2 classes this month if it’s the last thing I do!
the most completely random goal I will ever set forth to achieve. Not only am I a scrawny little white girl, but I have no rhythm, but for some reason it’s something I’ve ALWAYS wanted to do. Hopefully it will make me feel more outgoing and break out of the shell of what people expect of me. Quite frankly, I’m definite my friends will laugh at me, but I’ve gotten to the point that I don’t care. And who knows, maybe I actually don’t have 2 left feet.
“Daaaaymn, white girl’s got rhythm!”

I’ve been wanting to do this for some time. I am going to try it out on Tues. I hope I don’t fall on my face or can’t groove to it. We shall see. Deep breaths.
