I read this on the Robot blog today:

Next we thought, what feature did we build that users just never use? Maybe even a feature a lot of users actually hate! Well no feature was added to 43 Things that ever met with more hate and loathing than our one time pride and joy: SuperCheers.

We hate supercheers

We had big hopes. If someone would buy a teddy bear for a facebook friend, why not a SuperCheer to encourage a fellow 43Thingster? Well you all told us why, in about 400 angry emails denouncing SuperCheers and the wicked minds that concocted such a feature. OK good riddance.

In removing the feature we give up some revenue that supports the site but we get less hassle for not having to deal with it. We don’t have to maintain a secure server or deal with our credit card processor anymore and it simplifies things. We know about 3 of you out there actually like this feature and will miss it, and we appreciate you supporting the site. Sorry it is going away, but your sacrifice will help us slim down. The feature should be down later tonight.

OK, nobody on her knows this except her, so keep it a secret ;) I first noticed SimplyPink because she had one of the most gorgeous avatars I had ever seen. I commented on it, but she was inactive on 43T for months and never replied to my comment. Out of the blue pink, she came back on and replied. That started a friendship that has only continued to grow closer and deeper as time has gone on.

And, you know what? After many months of talking, I’ve come to realize that her old avatar picture is not nearly as beautiful as she is.

Cheers, LA. I love you and can’t tell you how much I value your friendship.

Shelly’s been a friend of mine for most of the time I’ve been on 43T. One thing that I’ve learned is that a conversation with Shel is never boring. In fact, it’s often quite a challenge to keep up with her. _{Hey, biotch, what do you think you’re doing? I’m not getting paid to think!}

Opinionated, extremely talented (I’ve bought several of her paintings), sarcastic, intelligent, hilarious… And a very good friend.

Goes to Dharma. Not only is she clever, and funny, and incredibly beautiful, but she’s also one of the most caring and compassionate people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting on 43T.

Plus she has the priviledge of living up there in the Great White North :)

I’ve never been wary of online purchases, but my bank rang me up last week to notify me that over £1K (US$2000)had been spent on my Mastercard illegally.

It’s put me off using my new one, but I would love to give 43T some cash to add to the joy they’ve given me. Can anyone reassure me? is there anything I can do to secure my payments further? 5 years ago
