Casablanca, Blade Runner, A Streetcar Named Desire, Fast Times At Ridgemont High, Dumb & Dumber 1 month ago

I’m too lazy to go into detail.

Casablanca was sort of boring to me, I’ll have to watch it again. Blade Runner was alright, the 90s-feel bothered me. A Streetcar Named Desire was also slightly boring and I might have to watch again. Fast Times At Ridgemont High was good but the brother character annoyed me. Dumb & Dumber was also alright.

Hero & The Graduate 3 months ago

Hero was not bad. I actually don’t remember a whole bunch of it. The changing of stories about what happened and what characters actually did confused me a bit. But I did like the character of Broken Sword. And obviously the colors were amazing. The cinematography was so bizarre, but really cool to watch.

The Graduate was great. Dustin Hoffman was AMAZING in it. They way he delivered some lines were just dead on perfect. The ending was very atypical and cool and tied in with one of my new favorite movies (500) Days of Summer, so that was definitely a plus. :)

Clerks and Clerks 2 3 months ago

I had only planned on watching Clerks, but I found the story so enjoyable that I ended up viewing Clerks 2 as well.

I prefer the first one, but there were aspects about the 2nd that were good (the nerd face-off between LOTR and Star Wars for example :) ). Both I thought had really well-written, Dr.-Cox-from-Scrubs-type dialogue which made up for the crappy everything else. I’m generalizing here, but the acting was quite poor in both. I think this was due to the fact that this was a college-film-type project to begin with. Kinda wish they had decided to just remake the first Clerks with better actors than making a sequel, but o well. They were both entertaining.

Rain Man, Princess Mononoke, and Scarface 3 months ago

Rain Man – Really good, I enjoyed the humorous bits. Tom Cruise shrieking about underwear in the middle of the street was great. Haha. Dustin Hoffman played his part excellently, very believable. Definitely a good movie.

Princess Mononoke – This one, like Howl’s and Spirited, really did not sink into my mind at all. I keep watching this guy’s movies because they seem really cool, but I think too much Japanese culture that I’m not aware of is ingrained into the themes. I think I should take a course or something about them.

Scarface – Wow. CRAZY awesome movie. Pacino owned his role. And I loved how he mocked people, the humor was great. I totally using the term ‘bubblehead’ from now on. And the last 20 minutes…hoooolyyyyy SHIT :O! Was NOT expecting that. The soundtrack was a bit of a buzzkill, but other than that it was amazing stuff.

The Wrestler and This Is Spinal Tap 3 months ago

Basically totally opposite ends of the sad/happy spectrum. :P

I had no idea The Wrestler was so sad. :( But it was definitely a very well-made film, especially visually. And Mickey Rourke was like born to play that part. Just…super super good stuff.

I actually started out watching This Is Spinal Tap thinking it was a real documentary. Ha. It’s definitely not, but it’s still awesome. I love British humor and this had lots of it. The storyline is a little on the lame side, but it’s amusing enough to make up for it. I enjoyed watching.

The Cell 4 months ago

One of those movies with a cool plot, but not-as-awesome everything else. :P I guess visually it was interesting too. But the story was a little meh.

Not the worst thing I’ve ever seen though, not by a long shot.

The Godfather and Breakfast on Pluto 4 months ago

I’d seen almost all of the Godfather earlier this summer, but missed the very end so I watched it again. I liked it. Pacino was great obviously.

Breakfast on Pluto I REALLY liked. Funny, sad, original, crazy…awesome. Cillian was amazing in his roll, I sometimes actually forgot he was a guy. Haha. Might be one of my favorite movies (along with Once). I dunno, I’ll have to watch them again later and see.

12 Angry Men, Die Hard, Office Space, Once, and The Big Lebowski 4 months ago

Watched all these over these past few weeks. I think in order of most liked to least liked, they would go as follows:

-Once
-12 Angry Men
-Die Hard
-The Big Lebowski
-Office Space

Of course I’ve only seen them all once, so the order might change if I ever watch any of them again. I enjoyed em all though. Once was realistic and awesome. 12 Angry Men had tension and was also awesome. Die Hard had nice dialogue and interesting pokes to its plot. The Big Lebowski was pretty hilarious. Office Space was also pretty funny, though I was expecting it to be better than what it was.

Alright, on to more movies!

Gone With The Wind 4 months ago

Much better (and longer) than I thought it would be. I actually wouldn’t mind seeing it again. Very realistic romance, very strong characters, very impressive. :)
