I’m really struggling with this. I never seem to have time. But I made it to the gym last night so that’s a start.

I’ve been achieving this goal half way lately by exercising once a week. However I just cant seem to motivate myself any more than that!

Monday nights - check 10 months ago

There’s a great strength training class every Monday night at my gym that kicks my ass! I’ve been going for a few weeks now, and it’s such a great thing to beat the Monday blues. Really, it’s the SECOND weekly workout that gets lost. Usually, loses to a social outing. Or sleeping in. Or lots of other things. Need to figure out my second great workout day. If it were warm, I’d go running before work, but now that I just work out in the evenings….

Why exercise more? 18 months ago

With the overall goal of achieving and maintaining an acceptable level of physical health for my emotional and mental wellbeing, I feel that exercise is of critical importance. While this is a goal I know will take great personal motivation, considering my abhorrence for exercise without purpose (i.e. not a ‘sport’).

I joined a gym in early December. I’ve been going twice a week, with the goal that I would add a third workout, which I succeeded in doing this week. The gym is in my building so I’m going before work—which means I’m only doing 30 min on an elliptical jogging machine, but I’m doing it at a high enough level that it says I’m burning 500 calories. 500 calories burned before breakfast is good enough for me, even if I’m only exercising 30 min.

Before Thanksgiving, I had put on about 20 lbs pretty quickly after straying from my health kick from the spring and summer. Thankfully, I’ve lost about 13 lbs of that—and I did that DURING the holidays. 10 more lbs and I’ll be back to working on new weightloss. Baby steps…

Getting back into the swing of things. 22 months ago

I used to be much better at being physically active than I have been over the past year or so. I would like to get back into some form of routine and exercise at the very least 2 times a week. I don’t actually have a specific routine, I used to run and do free weights from the home and also used to do laps at the university pool. I recently acquired an Eliptical machine which I am hoping will help out and I’m trying to get my housemates to join the Gym on campus so we can encourage each other to go there and all increase our health together. I feel acting on the need to get back into being more physically fit would be beneficial in all aspects of my life, particularly in reducing the stress of school and helping to focus and sleep better. I’ll start with a minimum of 2 times a week and hopefully do more some weeks!
