Memories Are Priceless. But Just In Case... 7 months ago

What exactly is it we do?

It all starts with a visit. One of the LifeGuards™ will come to your front door for an in-home consultation on your archiving needs. And the consulatation is free of charge.

After examining the media you have in your home and discussing your needs and expectations, if you decide to contract us, we’ll set up a pickup time to get all your photos, slides, film reels, etc.

We then take your media to our headquarters, based in Los Angeles, CA, and meticulously archive your stuff using state-of-the art computer equipment and Smithsonian-level archiving procedures.

We offer basic color balance and simple “photo tuning” free of charge, as well. You can see here what an image looks like before and after our scanning process is done.

If you have certain favorite photos that have been particularly damaged by water, tearing, or other elements, we can go over in our consulation whether our professional retouching service is right for you. Here’s an example of what can be done.

When our job is done, your photos will be returned to your front door, along with DVD-ROM media containing all the raw information, ready for you to download to your computer and begin sharing with family and friends.

Life Preserver recommends iPhoto for Mac users, and Picasa for PC users to handle their photo management needs.

Safe, secure and looking their best.

Photos, slides, film? We can handle it all. And the quality will take your breath away. Got a box full of slides that you haven’t looked at in 20 years? Now you can watch them on your HDTV. Not sure what’s on those 8mm film reels you’ve inherited? Make a DVD of them and gift them to your siblings.

All images are automatically corrected for color, contrast and white balance, often making the digital copy brighter and livelier than the original. All prices listed are per picture.

    Document Scanning:

Life Preserver offers document scanning at $0.10 per page and scans documents into .pdf file format. We offer database creation and tailor all organization to the needs of each unique client.
    The Customer’s Final Product

All content is issued to the customer on DVD disk media at a rate of $15 per disk (disk number varies depending on the job). Content can be issued on portable hard drive if the customer would like, and Life Preserver charges the cost of the hard drive plus a $50 loading fee.

For 35mm film slides, Life Preserver scans at 2000 dpi media/300 dpi output resolution at a rate of $0.99 per slide for the first 1000, and above 1000, charges $0.79 per slide.
