BarbResume Updating

I realize it’s been 15 years since I updated my resume. I haven’t applied for a job in that long. While the job I am applying for this coming week doesn’t require a resume, I think having a current resume is important anyway.

So, I have purchased Resume maker, to make my life easier. I already used it to write a cover letter, so the rest should be easy, right? 3 weeks ago

moniiawork in progress..

Decided to apply for a part time job with the Campus Recreation. I really enjoy working for the Campus Police Department but since I’m only an extra, I can’t get any more hours. It doesn’t help that I’m the only one there that doesn’t have someone related to me on the force. But hopefully everything goes well during the meeting. After which means that I will hand in my cover letter, resume, and application. Which explains this entry post. Once I get back to campus I’ll visit the Career Center to go over my resume before my meeting.

This is all is getting a bit overwhelming, the idea of having two part time jobs along with being a full time student and the responsibilities I have with different clubs and RSOs. ughh..

This is one of those depression/anxiety WALL OF OVERWHELMING tasks every time I look at it. Time to break it down into ridiculously small chunks.

  • Base cover letter
  • Job history
  • Housekeeping skill set
  • Clerical skill set
  • Medical/treatment skill set
  • Training dates
  • References2 months ago

I’m working on this now. It’s annoying because I have to make different versions of it for different jobs I’m interested in. I’m pretty much a resume expert by now because of all of my job searching so you’d think I would be used to it! 4 months ago

kerfuffledUpdated (but still a WIP)

Since I didn’t really have a resume and hadn’t had one in – well except my first job out of school – I now have one that I’ve sent out to about 11 places.

Looking it over now I see I made some major and minor errors and just an overall feeling of dread. Some certifications I got wrong and dates were shaky – mostly because I have a lot of those things in my storage locker (cleaning that out is another one of my 43 things). But it is updated and only needs tweaking now. Creating it was what really took the life out of me. That took a good several days not just creating it but of looking up sample resumes and advice over the web.

If I get any interviews from these, I may be problematic on a couple of fronts. The least of which is after gaining my unemployment 15 pounds I don’t fit into any decent clothes anymore! 4 months ago

kerfuffledI done some research, some writing, and some reachout

Geez, why didn’t i do this months ago? My resume is pathetic. I’m trying to get more aggressive with the job hunting so the resume has really got to be in better shape. 5 months ago

Maggief927Really got to get this done

I am not making it on my current income. I need to find a better paying full time job; or I need to find a part time job to supplement my income. I am tired of the awful feeling when I look at my check and know its not enough to pay the bills let alone buy groceries and gas for the car. I know a lot of people are going through the same thing, but I don’t find that comforting; I find it scarier. 5 months ago

Maggief927Harder than I thought

How do people remember dates of hire and dates they have left a job? I seem to be having a hard time remembering my start and stop dates. I didn’t even remember for sure which year I got my Business Degree. I never seem to have a handle on dates and times something has occurred. When I left one job or got laid off, I just went out and got another job. I never focused enough on time or dates. I know my husband, Jon, was always shaking his head at me because I couldn’t remember special dates or what time I got home, or what time I got up. I just have the mind set that you finish one thing you move on to the next. What does it matter what day or time it is as long as I always meet deadlines and I am always on time for appointments or work? Apparently, I do need this information for my resume. Jokes on me. I am going to spend tomorrow trying to focus on getting the information together for my resume. 8 months ago
