gigabyteheroFinally!

Spent about four months on that second sock, but I finally got my bum in gear yesterday during the Superbowl and knocked the rest of the toe out!!
I did it! 6 years ago

sagittarianPhew!

Finished! So warm..and just in time for the 20 degree weather. 6 years ago

Mary HawkinsI sympathise with anyone who has this on their list...

The second one is always tougher than the first! 6 years ago

Second Sock Syndrome! I finally get it…and oh no…now I have it! 6 years ago

Rebecca LopezUntitled

Best way to avoid second sock syndrome in my own experience is to not graft the toes together on the first…just place those last stitches on a holder, and then start the second sock…that way you dont have that FO fix.
Then when the second is finished..you can graft the first..and then the second at one sitting.

There is the first sock of the pair that I am working on right now. ( pictured) I have those last stitches on a peice of yarn waiting for number two to be finished. 6 years ago

Your first sock won’t be lonely! You can officially check the project off your list! 6 years ago

SarahYay!

done! 7 years ago

Random GeekYay!

Like I said in the previous entry, I added this goal because I was nearly there already. Still, it is a nice feeling to see the socks I made on my girlfriend’s feet. She says they’re cozy. 7 years ago

First sock done!

I’ve finished the toe and sole of the second sock. Turned the heel and am half way up the ankle. 7 years ago

Random Geeknearly done

Perfect time to adopt this goal is when you’re 3 inches from completion. It’s a simple tube sock pattern, but it’s still a lot of fun to make. People are amusingly impressed by seeing somebody working on double-ended needles. If they only knew how easy it really is :) 7 years ago

SarahStarted again

I’ve managed to lose the first sock, so I’ve started knitting a new pair. Let’s hope my enthusiasm keeps going further than the first sock this time.

I’ve chosen a toe up pattern on 4 DPNs in a Finnish wool/poly mix called Novita. 7 years ago

AineNow I have a great pair of socks!

And I’m planning to make more (as soon as I finish some of my other projects). 7 years ago

thistlechickDone...

Finally broke down and sewed up the toe of the last sock… i’ll post pics of this pair soon. 7 years ago

HelmutLovely

I’m glad I stuck it out to complete the pair. It feels really good. Who knew?

I can’t wait to start another pair, but I have a few other things on the needles that need to be worked out. :) 7 years ago

HelmutDONE!

It’s finished! Yea! I finished it a few days ago, but needed to get a pic for you guys first. So here they are finished:

I get to mark this one complete! 7 years ago

Helmutalmost done

I’m on my last stripe. I have maybe 2” of ribbing left to do. I should finish it early next week ‘cause I usually don’t knit much on the weekends. 7 years ago

HelmutProgress

Ok, I did have to rip out the original heel ‘cause it wasn’t long enough. So, I ripped it out and added a few more rows. Then I restarted the heel. I finished it last night, then started to worry that it was now too big. Grrrr… but before ripping it out again, I had my dad try it on today and it fit like a dream. Whooooo!!!!! Now I get to work about 4” before starting my 7” of ribbing. I’m actually excited to get to the ribbing. My dad wants me to make socks for all the hunters now. Not sure if I’m happy about that or not. I told him that I would make them shorter socks possibly, but that only special people will get socks up to their knees. :) 7 years ago

... here’s a pair I finished earlier this year… for my mom… a self-patterning yarn, but i can’t remember off-hand which brand (one i hadn’t seen before)... 7 years ago

thistlechickSock Inventory

This is a list of the socks I’ve started, each needs to be finished or have the mate knitted…

  • Orange/green self-striping fingering socks (for me?)
  • Fibonacci worsted socks (my own pattern)
  • Camoflaugue DK socks (were going to be for my dad, but he wasn’t appreciative, so, i’ll give them to someone who is… so there hmmphf)
  • Light blue fingering socks (lace pattern… or start over?)
  • Red/blue DK socks (Nancy Bush’s arrowhead socks http://www.woolywest.com/arrowhead.html)
Socks I’ve finished:
  • 2 pair of DK weight for my mom
  • 2 pair of fingering weight (self-patterning) for other people
  • Ribbed worsted socks for sister-in-law
  • Purple worsted weight for me

This is not a list to brag or show-off… i just had to write it down for me, so that i can SEE what i need to do… and to prove to myself that I have actually finished something in my life. 7 years ago

HelmutToe

I’m doing the second one toe up just like the first and following the same basic stripe pattern. I finished the toe and have just barely started the foot. I’m still going to try to wait to see how it fits my dad before getting to the heel. So, that means, I will be very slow about knitting on it. :) 7 years ago

HelmutOh Lord!

I was planning on starting the second sock after Father’s Day so I could take proper measurements and all that. But, lo and behold, I cast on for the second one tonight. I’m about half way done with the toe, but felt my eyes getting tired, so I stopped. I still can’t believe I just up and cast on for it tonight! 7 years ago

thistlechickSock-a-Rama!!!

I have way too many pairs of socks started… I need to take an inventory of the single socks that need mates… Then I need to KNIT them! =) 7 years ago
