I wanted to learn to play the flute in grade school but there were not enough to go around. Absolutely luv the peaceful sounds and hope to make this my number one learning goal after my nasty upcoming neck surgery. I am 45 years young and have great fears of Alzeimers (sp?) and know its beneficial to keep learning new things into our twilight years.
How to learn to play the flute
How I did it: I took private lessons around the same time I started the violin. I would learn how to blow through the head joint, then move on to learning the fingerings, and vibrato.
I stared playing simple songs then moved on to play duets with my teacher. I stopped th flute when my family moved then picked it up again.
When I relearned the flute, I relearned the fingerings and vibrato. I still remembered the scales and how to blow through the head joint.
When I got to 6th grade, I quite private lessons and continued playing in the school band. By the time 7th grade started, I switched back and forth between oboe and flute.
Lessons & tips:
- practice blowing through the headjoint if you're a beginner.
- Start with piano. It's easier to build on your music education after learning piano.

Im getting my flute soon so i cant wait to start playing it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i want to learn to play the flute, so i know what all the keys are and how to play the titanic theme song on it, and other songs on it as well.
I have purchased a flute and self-instruction book. I have always wanted to play an instrument but in elementary school when they first introduced us to the concept of joining band, my parents went down to talk to the rental company but couldn’t afford the instrument or rental. Now that I can pay for my own stuff, I have bought a flute and learned the first three notes.
Who knows if it’ll ever happen.
If I could play the flute… I’d be a very happy person. It’s so beautiful. So peaceful.

What devotion.
Got a flute through freecyle and can now make four whole notes. Clearly, I’m a prodigy. :)
