My wife and I moved across town and threw away two pickup loads of stuff, and took two loads to Good Will.
Still, we took about twice that much to the house, but that included large furniture.

however you do it, do it!
I have way too much stuff. Waaaaaaay too much. And I’m only 16. I’m one of those people who develops an attachment to anything and everything – I can’t bear to get rid of stuff. ‘Tis a very bad habit…
Gah, it’s AMAZING how much crap a person can accumulate, and in a relatively short period of time. Until 2 1/2 years ago, I was living in [largely 1 BR] apartments, duplexes, and rental houses. Between January of 2001 and December of 2003 I moved not less than seven (7) times, which had the effect of keeping my belongings relatively pared down.
That December 2003 move was into a house that I had bought though, and evidently, in Audrey Land anyhow, home ownership means one must keep everything, it might be needed some day. I have 6 inch lengths of string, empty paint cans, dead batteries, two Motorola Startacs and three extra batteries (the Startacs will no longer be activated, due to not being 911 compliant, or some such thing), at least five fans (the house has central air), and the list goes on.
So I started small, with the drawers in the two desks, which actually wasn’t quite so small, the slant top desk has dresser size drawers. I threw out, and Goodwilled, and by golly, everything actually fits in these drawers now, and can be found when needed. (Somehow, I ended up with at least a half-dozen rolls of Scotch tape, I presume from never being able to find a roll when I needed it.) The basement was already in pretty good shape, thanks to sweetie undertaking that project a couple weeks ago. I am missing a couple boxes of miscellaney that were down there, and I would have liked to have gone through those myself, but it’s probably for the best if they are gone forever. So I moved on to the attic.
And, oh, dear mother of God, I think I might want to rent a dumster, park it under the window, and just start pitching. Five body pouf sponges? A half-dozen bottles, tubs, and tins of scented shower gels and bath salts, when I have chemical sensitivities? Dead pens, old budgeting scribblings and shopping lists, fliers for events past, what looks like an old dog ball and I’ve NEVER had a dog???
I’ve started unearthing up there, but it could take a while.
The fewer items in my possession the better…
Naturally I’ll take quality over quantity anyday.
LovelyStrife I've got to go; gotta leave you all behind and face the truth!
Before my trip to Stockholm, I went through my room and clothes and got rid of the vast majority of my things. It was worth it, and now somebody else can use those things. _

And I didn’t even have all THAT many…
So how come there are still so many left to go?

Tonight, my master plan of going through my jewelry while my niece was here was great. She liked alot of the stuff I didn’t want to keep anymore and anything she didn’t want goes in a bag to take to thrift stores tomorrow. We’re going shopping for her clothes! Most exciting. I may see if she wants some of my scarves….
Fiendish clothes and things, begone with you!

I’ve got a box of cds I’d finally gotten together back before I moved completely out of my parents house to sell on SecondSpin.com. They sit next to my computer desk every day now, it’s a matter of getting them out and getting on the site. I have to check what I want to sell back and print the list out. Then mail it in. Simple right? Nope. The evil box sits here taunting me. I am joking. But sometimes it feels more true then not.
