mathnerde is planning some writing...
I won’t have time to build it right away due to moving. But this is almost there. Though I know that there’s a modification I want to make. I’ll want to have a jack to send the signal to an amplifier.

I, too, want to build a Theremin but it has to be artistic not just functional.
I Got my Theremin kit for Christmas from http://www.harrisoninstruments.com/100/100_description.html
I was able to finish Soldering the circuit board within 5 hours combined time, maybe less. All i have not is to make or find a box, antenna and stand for it and it will be completed.
I think that the TSA thought my theremin looked suspicious because my luggage got searched and then temporarily lost on the way back from Seattle. Luckily it arrived at my apartment a few days later, and now a friend gave me a soldering iron to continue on this project. Yay!
So even though a lovely friend sent me a kit in the springtime, I started it on 12/27. Tonight I pretty much finished all of the soldering on the board, and can start in on wiring to the controls tomorrow. Since I also need to finish some last-minute holiday gifts (my immediate family always has a late celebration), I might not finish before the 1st, but I am on track to finish this as a goal.
And man I am excited but yet my excitemnt is overshadowed by my lack of electronic experience…although the people I bought the kit off are very nice and have offered to help me through it should I become stuck…plus…I hope…I have you guys!!
Did it. Okay, not from scratch, but from one of Moog’s kits. Still, well recommended and easy if you’re not afraid of soldering.
Still have to find a mic stand though. I’ve been leaving the theremin on tables for years now.
