I'm thrilled
I think that when my heaters come alive in the late fall, my skin reacts to the sudden heat and dryness. This is the second year that I’ve had a case of suddenly mysterious itchy, dry skin. This time, my skin literally peeled away and a couple shades of my summer tan also went with it. After intense exfoliations with some yummy smelling homemade stuff, my skin’s back to normal. Yay!
My skin feels lovely again! Oh, and I’m now happily using an organic lotion by Avalon, in lavender.

Shea butter
I’m onto pure shea butter now. After all the experimentation, this might be the one. It’s thick and rich and soothes my itchies. It contains an amazing amount of vitamins and it even has sunscreen. Since most moisturizers boast about having shea butter in it, I’m going right to the source and using the real thing. It has a light smell that’s odd but I don’t mind it much.
I’ve decided to stick with it for awhile to give it a chance, and to give my skin a rest from all the moisturizer changes lately. With natural moisturizers I’m finding that I need to apply it more than once, which I don’t mind since they’re better for me in the long run.

I want a natural moisturizer that works for my skin because I want to get away from the unpronounceable chemicals used in the conventional lotions. They get absorbed into our bodies and that frightens me. I’ve been experimenting with the organic stuff, and even though I have very normal skin, nothing is working as well as the regular moisturizers. I was in love with my coconut oil for the past two weeks, but I think that’s fading off. I woke up this morning feeling itchy and dry. I love my coconut oil. What am I going to do? I thought this love affair was going to last.
I’m thinking that the colder weather has something to do with this and that I need a stronger lotion for the next couple of months, and then I can go back to my beloved.
I’m off to the health store tomorrow.
