Hedgepiglet working on the beach
How I did it: I joined a photography group, called Rebel Voices in NYC, and at the end of the group's tenure, we created an exhibit in an art gallery in Brooklyn. We met weekly to show each other our photos and toured museums such as PS. 1 and MoMA for inspiration.
Lessons & tips: Do it with other people. Take photos with a group, and ask for their feedback and comment. Also, find a great space to exhibit your photographs - the Brooklyn art gallery was classic and beautiful - the perfect backdrop for our political, gritty, contemporary photos.

I’ve exhibited my lomographs at the KL urbanscapes 2004. Now if I can do the same in Hong Kong would be awesome.
I love photography with all my heart. However, it’s hard to get started. I have almost no idea where to begin. I believe that I can take beautiful pictures. I just need to show them. I just don’t know where or who to show them to.

Conveniently omitting the goal “take photographs worth exhibiting” – what the heck, I’ll get there in the end.

Since my new store also features dog photography, my photos have taken their turn throughout the shop. I try to change them out often, and continually revolve them throughout the halls to keep the look fresh. Since I have joined a group promoting the artists and creativity in our town, I do hope to jump on board and soon join a real exhibit. As we feature other artists in our store, I am sure that the day will come when I will be invited. Until then, I will hold close the enjoyment of having my photography a hobby, and the continuous learning through this process.

We hung my photos today. On unpainted walls, there they sit like little soldiers standing at attention. I have six more to add to the line-up, and the “Exhibition” is complete. I must say, there is a certain feeling of accomplishment to see your creations displayed in such a way. Each one a special memory – a birth of an idea of a thing. They have a special place in my heart, and now in my business…

There comes a time in a person’s life when they must jump in with both feet and go for the dreams deep within or make the choice to let them fade away.
I have enjoyed discovering the talent within myself and the love of working with my camera. Daily outings to a multitude of spots in town that I have always wanted to explore further, a road trip to a new location, capturing moments – family, friends, pets and serene nature at work… it is a calling that I cannot ignore. To let this opportunity pass me by would be a huge let down to myself.
I knew that one day, the collection of photos I have carefully matted and framed would position themselves in the perfect atmosphere. A place in which they will demand integrity and the proper display. In setting up shop with our new business, I have discovered the long hallways connecting she shop to my offices make the perfect gallery in which to showcase them.
Ninety feet of pure space… let the exhibition begin!

But it would be nice to see some of mine in a gallery.
