mimisaurus loves the feel of acrylic paint between her fingers. :)
And never finished it! I actually nicked the book out of my class (because our instructor was cool like that and let us do those kinds of things xD) and now it’s sitting unread on my shelf, stolen and neglected. It was an interesting read though, and I’d like to pick it up again sometime. :)

i read a few more pages of it while on the plane going on vacation. i didn’t get fully back into it though. i’m sure i just need to get re-hooked, or have time to read. i mean- make time to read. i have time, but i just never think to read.

I started to read this book over the summer, but then I had to leave for college and I had to return the book to the library. I have heard that this book takes a while to get through but when you do it is worth the patience. My goal is to have this read by the end of 2007.

This was pretty good. I read it for my junior english class in High School. It’s really hard to read at times, and it’s a big book with a lot of small print, but I liked it, in the end. I just found another copy at the thrift store, so I’m going to reread it soon though. I recommend!

The Phaedo – to which “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance” refers often, if I remember correctly – is not a bad place to start … but also try the Meno, and the Symposium.

i started reading this a long time ago (maybe 2 years) and you know what, i even picked it up again and read like 50 more pages. i don’t think i’m even halfway through. truth be, i used to care less about vehicles, so motorcycle maintenance might actually be something more interesting now. plus i could better appreciate the blend of philosophical wisdom with car stuff. i would really like to try reading it again, just have to find it first hehe!

I read it a few years ago, and all I can remember about it is that it’s a bit weird. So obviously I wasn’t impressed by it, hence the “not worth it” tag.

But I really enjoyed the book. It takes you to many different places. The motorcycle trip itself was worth reading about.

I think if I read it now, I would have more trouble with it, since what I remember of the storyline (the shock treatment, the weird mental illness/identity loss of the protagonist) and the vague recollection I have of the philosophy (was it heavily Kantian? Wasn’t he always going on about a priori this and that?) doesn’t seem too cool now.
Bu I enjoyed it when I was younger, I read it in between high school and college.
