My old boyfriend used to do this. But whatever he could do, I’m sure I can learn.

a good start!
More or less
Always a work in progress but feeling a lot more confident about its inner workings..
I don’t know what it is called exactly but my bike chain becomes loose and hangs nearly to the ground when i peddle backwards or even if i roll my bike back. I have tried tighenting it but i can’t get it to pick up the slack
Taking on full responsibility for your transportation is a great feeling. I’m not a super-wrench, but I can do 90% of what comes at me, and can now not feel/sound like an clueless moron if I have to bring my bike to a shop to get work done.
The only problem is that once you get into bikes and how they work, you just want more and more. . .
I got a book on how to fix my road bike-
I think I’m going to try to learn about how to maintain my brakes this weekend…

I got a gift certificate to Dick’s Sporting Goods= for my birthday. (Don’t make the mistake I made and try to visit dicks.com. It’s a really bad idea :)
I’m going to try to get a tool set from there. And perhaps, I can crack open that Zen and the Art of Mountain Bike Maintenance book.
But I have yet to find the tools on the web site. Maybe I’ll just put it toward anew helmet. I’ll keep looking.
For those of you in the SF area (and beyond, more are popping up all over the place) visit the Bike Kitchen! Things I learned there: brake tuning, derailleur adjustment, hub maintence, everything about headsets, chains, cables, etc. But I’m not done, yet! Time to build a bike from scratch!

I just bought Zinn and the Art of Mountain Bike Maintenance on Amazon. I’m sure once I read and get the tools I’ll be able to do. I just have to BELIEVE in myself :)

I have figured out how the chain is supposed to work. This is good start right? My chain kind of fell off the track while the bike was in transit on the back of my car the otehr day. But I was able to get it back on track and it worked! Yes, this is minor. I am going to learn how to do a tune up…this year.
