Our latest water bill came 19 months ago

and showed how much we used for this month a year ago compared to this year – we are down 33%! Yay!

We are going to continue to find ways to conserve and bring it down even more. I’m saving for a front loading washer – that should bring the numbers way down :)

silly me 19 months ago

I never noticed the water miser setting on my dishwasher before – it cuts out the prewash cycle. Dishes and glasses look fine.

As you probably have heard 20 months ago

we are in a water crisis in the Atlanta area. Due to our extreme drought, the lake we get our drinking water from has less than 80 days of water before it reaches the dead pool stage. Our governor has been battling it out with the governors of Alabama & Florida, the Army Corps of Engineers & the Fish & Wildlife service to slow the release of water downstream. The water wars have been going on for years now – but that is outside of my control.

In the mean time, we all need to do our part and conserve more. We haven’t been using any water outdoors for plants or car washing for quite some time ( I mean we personally – our front lawn died this summer during the month of 100 degree days)

I’m going to try to see if we can cut back at least 20% on our indoor usage. This might be tough with two teens in the house (maybe I’ll just shut the hot water off after 5 minutes – that should do it ;) )

Any suggestions will be gratefully accepted
