While I don’t think this was the best one ever, in terms of writing, style, etc., I think it’s exactly the kind that everyone loves, and we got great feedback on it.
The key was featuring as many retirees in it as possible, and including a lot of photos.

it is almost ready to go. George is going to add a page of pictures and do a few other changes. I sent him my draft. Now I just have to wait to see what he comes up with.

We actually have enough material to publish now, but that would be a month early. Lots of photos in this edition, which will make people happy.

The LAX group had a meeting, and they sent me a photo (although they couldn’t identify everybody). And the East Bay group from the Bay Area had a separate lunch, and I got two photos from that. People looove photos, more than the written word, it seems.

We had a lot of input from fellow retirees, which is very new.
And I was able to increase my email distribution list by adding on former employees I knew from when I worked at a previous station.

and it’s gotten a very successful reaction. One of the original Alcatraz guards (well, original in the fact that he worked there in the fifties, as a young man) joined our organization to complete his career. So I did a story on him. His photo and voice are all over the island.

I’ve picked up some news about some former coworkers, and will include that. I also have some photos from a retirement party, plus photos from our annual get-together for all the retirees from last December. I think this is going to be a great issue.

This is #11 in a series of, well, newsletters. This is a really good one, I think, and it includes a recap of our last retiree luncheon plus a little article I wrote about my friend who passed away a month ago.
My friend George will convert the Word product into a pdf, send it back to me, and I’ll distribute by email, hopefully by the weekend.

just yet, and will put it out in January. That way, we’ll have a little more, maybe even some of the photos back from the annual retiree get-together.

I’ll correct it, then send it back to George to be put into a jpeg.
I have one addition to make: the death of a dear friend.
