One of the most confusing things for people moving to New York is the fee and no fee rental system. Broker’s charge a fee ranging from 1%-15% to tenants for finding them an apartment. Rose Associates provides on-site leasing services at doorman buildings – all apartments are no-fee. View floorplans, photos and availabilities at www.rosenyc.com
How to move to Manhattan
How I did it: I applied to Parson's at the New School, was somehow accepted, and here I am. I had to create an online portfolio, apply for a for a visa, get numerous financial documents in place, apply for student housing, do well in all my classes in my last year of school, and finally, start over in the United States.
Lessons & tips: Moving to the other side of the world is the hardest thing I have ever done. it's definitely not for everyone, I'm not sure that it's even for me. But, I know that it will pay off, and that I'm being taught by the best of the best. I try not to look back, I know it was the right choice despite the hardships.

Either Manhattan is not the city I thought it was or I’m not the girl I thought I was. Either way, I give up. As much as I have projected onto the tiny island as a city of romance, dreams and glamour, whenever I am actually there I find it cramped, dirty and inorganic. Everyone is a transplant and though beautiful things such as art, fashion and cuisine do thrive there, the pursuit of them seems more like a celebration of the next big thing than a true celebration of hedonism. I realize now that the things I wanted from my dream life in New York are all things I can provide for myself: art, beauty, glamour, pleasure and success.
Goodbye, NYC. I hardly knew ye.
Kayla is looking for ideas.

Unbelievably exciting. NYC is where it’s at for artists like us. We got to experience the island. Museums, galleries, clubs, parties, restaurants.
I work for the, yes I know it souds silly but it is true, mafia in the bronx region of new york city where some blacks are starting to move in. I’m thinking about moving my bussiness elsewhere because I’m tired of being called a whop.
never thought i would actually do it.. but everything kind of just fell into place, so here i am!
I just turned 17 last March but I’m saving up and in a few months (2-4) I should have enough money to get a good start there. I’m not naive, just very brave. I’ll be living alone and wont know anyone here but I’ve done tons of research and have been looking at apartments. I’ve lived in Federal Way, Washington for my entire life and can’t wait to get involved with the city. I’m also gay so the gay scene will be fun but the scene I’m looking most forward to is the Manhattan literary one. I’m a newbie writer with some published work (poetry) and hoping to make new connections in the city. I’m very excited for the future!
