train my parakeet

Okay just Friday my bird wouldn’t even let me touch her now (Today is Sunday) She crawls all over me!!!! An she will step up when i tell her to I don’t even know how i did it but i sure do like the results!!! oh and he likes to be pet

I got a male parakeet on Monday and named him Skyler. He gets a bit fidgety when my finger approaches him. It will require a lot of patience…..

now both can step on moving perches and i can stroke them!!!! but i cant bring them out of their cage….(i will!!!!!!!!!!)

I’ve grown really fond of Huey. He’s been more active lately. I hope its not the food I gave him because I won’t be able to get more of it. He’s been playing with all the toys in his cage and he used to just ignore them. He seems excited when I get home. But still, he doesn’t like to be pet and doesn’t particularly like it on my finger, so I cannot mark this as complete.

I still can’t get my parakeet to come out of the cage… She sits on my finger pretty easily, but doesn’t let me take her out of the cage or put her on my shoulder? What should I do?

Huey he’s a slow bird lol! He FINALLY figured out how to use his fuzzy bird bed. Now he sits in it and looks so comfy! I made a platform for him the other day and he was really scared of that so he sat in the corner of his cage, away from the platform, next to the bird bed. And thats when he figured out how to use the bird bed. Anyway, he hasn’t used the platform yet, but maybe if I move his ladder he will. He accidently hopped on the corner of it but he hasn’t like sat on the platform. I thought the millet would do the trick. I need to get more of it.

I’m at a standstill on this goal. He gets on my finger after I chase him around and then when I try to put him on the couch or my shoulder he flies around the room. I’ve tried millet and he likes it but he won’t follow it. I guess I should try to get him to jump from hand to hand. I’m kind of lost on this goal. I need to keep at him though.

Just when I thought I was getting somewhere with him he got really scared of me today. I was trying to give him millet and he kept flying away from it. I saw him eat some earlier too. He seems to get in moods when he doesn’t want to hang out with me. I think he’s better at night time.

Last night I let Huey sit on my finger as a I read a paper. He’d get scared and jump off every time I turned the page. I think the next step will be to give him treats. The only thing he likes is millet. Parakeets are supposed to like fresh fruits and vegetables but he just kind of licks them and doesn’t get too excited. Anyway I love my Huey and I’m going to spend time with him every night!!

I know I should go down and play with Huey my parakeet. And I will later. I’m just so tired and I miss my boyfriend. I can’t believe he didn’t call me today. =( Haven’t talked to him since friday- when he said ‘I’ll call you’. I know he has finals but can’t he let me know how he’s doing? He’s done tomorrow and I’m not going to answer my phone if he calls tomorrow because he shouldn’t have done this. Huey’s my new boyfriend.
