It was a great experience! Definatley worth it. You can usually do it as part of a package, I did mine in Tunisia but also have done it in Furteventura but not through the desert.
Sometimes it’s kind of upsetting as they are often chained together.
How to ride a camel in the desert
How I did it: It was in the desert of Egypt, on a "super safari" trip we went on :) Very cute animals, very lazy and slow, haha... I'm scared of riding on horses, and on the camel you don't have much to hold on to! but it was not scary at all, because they were so slow :p
Lessons & tips: Hold on when the camel sits down! That was the scariest part ;p

Last night we booked flights, tour, hotels, camps, hostels and camel riding! It’s all so exciting!
Gonna be bloody hot though, in the Sahara, in June.
Hopefully I will be off to Morocco later this year and do a camel trek in the Sahara. Hopefully.

I was gripping on for dear life and it’s a good job I was too. Those animals are enormous, but not very friendly. A five minute trip was all that was needed – and all that was offered for that matter – but was worth doing, just to say I had. A group of us did a desert safari in Dubai – it is the best thing to do in the whole of the UAE without a doubt! I definitely recommend driving through the dunes and if camels are thrown in too – then all the better!
My boyfriend and I went to Tunisia two years ago. We stayed in a place called Hammamet – a bit touristy, but had lovely markets that felt very Arabic, and incredible beaches and harbours. We went on a trip round the country to see a bit more of the place – the place called Matmata where Star Wars was filmed (there is actually a place called Tattooine!), the old Roman amphitheatre called El Djem, some of the old old cities. And to top it off we went as far south as you can go in the country, near the Libyan border, and rode camels. One of the highlights of the trip and I’ve never forgetten it. They move so different to a horse. And the dunes were peaceful and ridiculously beautiful. They looked so smooth, they were like still water.
It might sound boring at first, but it was one of the coolest experiences i’ve had traveling. I got to ride a camel in the Sahara desert in Tunisia. It was sunset and the whole desert turned beautiful read/orange color. I didn’t want to leave!
SMELLY!!!! but awesome experience. I also floated in the Dead Sea. None of my friends can say that.
