How to graduate from the Second City writing program
How I did it: It's not hard to complete the Writing Program at Second City. As long as you keep showing up to class and paying tuition you will complete this program.
Lessons & tips: I'm a horrible procrastinator. I wish I put more time into my scenes. Procrastination is still a problem for me.
Don't be afraid to speak up for yourself during rehearsals for your show. It's one thing to respect the director's role but it's another thing to be an advocate for your own work.
Don't be afraid to go out on a limb with your writing. A lot of your scenes will suck. So what. Who cares. So will everyone elses'. Just keep writing and rewriting and learn as much as you can.
Keep a notebook and always, always write down your ideas. This is so important.
I highly recommend And.y Mi.ara, Mar.y Scr.uggs, and An.ne Mar.ie Sav.iano as instructors.

First stop, Chicago. Second stop, find a job that accomodates Second City classes. Third, be funny and help others be funny.
Yesterday was my last day of Writing 2. I have three more levels to work through. In the last level (Level 5) me and my classmates will stage a review show using sketches we’ve written. I’m really excited about that.
I’m going to do some rewrites in my time off before Writing 3.
