Be a big part of my baby niece's life

She says my name now. She’s such a cutie. She is walking and starting to talk. She’s got big blue eyes and blonde hair. She looks a lot like my brother did when he was a baby.

Her mother and my brother just separated.. hope of seeing her more often is dwindling. She is now 2 :) I saw her this month but she was very sick. :(

Stop wishing she were more then 2 years old so that we could start playing more fun games that use imagination aha

It’s a book full of nursery rhymes/stories from all over the world. Can’t wait til’ she can appreciate them. Shouldn’t be long, even if she doesn’t get them she should enjoy the voices and such :)

this probably reflexs insecurities I have about differences in parenting of my sister in law and I, as well as my fear of not being able to spend time with the little one as much as I would like.

I crafted a flower crown
For the angel that is my niece
On her first birthday
Of this very year

It was lovely and skillfully strung
Colorful and delicately done.

I lay the daisy crown
Upon her very fine hair
And watched her eyes light up
As I held her with care

Her mother gasped
And grabbed her from me
The flowers that I had laid
Would surely attract bees!

The crown fell to the ground
My darling made no sound
In the arms of her mother
Helplessly paraded away to another..

Odd, poorly written and depressing- I know. Just something that came out tonight for some reason..

I want to pick up the little angel in my arms
make her smile
laugh with her
kiss her on the forehead
smooth down her crazy hair
have fun with her
and show her I love her genuinely, purely and wholly
like very few people in this world will ever love her.

I want to show her the pleasures of the world.
I can’t wait to see her again, I sometimes act so cold with her. I’m not great for being loving, but I want to be so badly. So I will, and she will be my ticket.

Someone else has this same goal. Cool beans.

She is so beautiful. You know how most newborns are born kind of funky looking? Misshapen head, sometimes red patchy skin, and generally look like an alien…not my baby niece. She is the cutest baby I’ve ever seen.

I can’t wait to watch her grow up.

• show her baby kittens and other animals, to instill compassion

• Give her advise through quotes when she gets older
• Go to the park
• Build a sand castle
• Make her feel like she can do anything!

• bring water to spray under her bed and say it’s monster repelent
• buy her classic children books, like Peter Rabit and Friend, On the River Bank, and Wind in the Willows
• Make her a CD of neat adult psycholdelic type music that she would enjoy as a child.
• Buy her a black cultural doll from another country and maybe some maracas~! Either off the web , or later when I travel.
• Draw henna on her hands
• Spoil her rotten
• Teach her about nature
• Show her the lady inside of wild violets
• Cook her awesome veggie food!
• Instill a love for animals in her
• Teach her basic yoga after a picnic outdoors
• Laugh
• Sing – teach her neat girl guide songs

• Bake vegan sweets!
• Instill an appreciation for life in her
• Instill tolerance for others and kindness
• Tell cultural tidbit stories
• Play foriegn music and dance with her
• Braid her hair with flowers
• Tell her how beautiful she is, instill love for herself and a secure body image
• Memorize poems to recite at the right times
• Read her bed time stories
