That was wonderfully freeing and fulfilling – I may have to add it to “enjoy first quarter 2008 by having one new and fulfilling experiece…”

I’m most pleased with the attitude adjustment from discarding the nonproductive and unfulfilled internal whining I was listening to.

I’ll be excitedly anticipating the next Discardia season! I wonder if it might be appropriate to “regift” (no new stuff) to people who can appreciate the sensibilities of Discardia?

Finished 23 months ago

Discardia finished up yesterday. I was feeling a bit disappointed this morning that I didn’t end it in some grand fashion. However, I remember what its creator said about overblown expectations of specialness. And I did go to the movies with my sweetheart, which is something we don’t do often any more.

I found the whole experience very valuable. Things that I’d been putting off got done (you know, those small annoying tasks that take 5 minutes), useless or unwanted things got thrown, other things got rearranged. It was absolutely worth it.

I think Discardia is going to become something permanent in my life. I’m looking forward to the next one in March

Not giving up, exactly 23 months ago

I love this goal. It has pushed me to rid my world of certain things (like 6 bags of perfectly good but unneeded or outgrown clothing to Good Will), but more importantly it has prompted me to look around and actually see and assess the clutter and excess that surrounds me. But I will need to come back to this, perhaps in another form, or via a different goal. So I’m not giving up, exactly. I’m just giving up for now. Discardia blessings, all. Hope it was Happy.

I want to discard my freak out button 23 months ago

Wouldn’t that be cool. To just throw away the button and stop freakin the heck out. Especially when you know things are going to be okay. That’s it. I am disposing of my friggin freak out button. Maybe I should burn it so I won’t go diggin in the trash later. :/

Cleared the basement. Yay! Discardia works for me.

Gemini Horoscope for January 8 2008 23 months ago

Found this on my Facebook page today -
“This is an excellent time to eliminate whatever is unnecessary and outworn in your life, from clutter and disorder in your environment, to an unhealthy relationship or even a long-held attitude or belief which keeps you from going after what you really want in life.”

HOW did that happen?

Madam Ish Moving at the speed of life

Hey, hey, hey... good-bye! 23 months ago

Big pile of stuff in my front hall, waiting to go to Goodwill. Woo-hoo!

Yeah, I still have lots of stuff in my house that can be reduced, plus boxes and boxes of things from my Mom’s house… but there will be more Discardias to celebrate. I think I did pretty well for this one.

Better late than never, right? 23 months ago

I only have one day (half a day, actually) left, but as soon as I get home this evening I am going to discardia-ise my house from top to bottom. Shouldn’t take too long as I’m a bit of a(ahem! an incurable!) neat freak, but there are niggling bits of paper and such. Yes, that’s right, I get niggled by paper.

Then I am going to sit down and draw up a big list of everything that is weighing me down/ pissing me off/ polluting my stream of kind and generous thinking (oho, but there have been a lot of things of late), and I am going to discard that, too. I am going to write one action to take against everything I write down, and I am going to pin that to my notice board and then take a very deep breath and take all the rubbish out of the house on every level you can possibly think of.

And then I shall finish that skirt!

KatheD is exhausted by the time change

finding this more difficult than imagined 23 months ago

purchased another book today (positive that I will love it) and some 80% off Christmas and 50% off craft supplies

sigh

discussed with my husband the possibility of going through the kitchen and giving away some of the unused dishes/wedding gifts/baking utensils

smile

realizing that the mindset required for “use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without” makes it more difficult to “discard”, I’m trying to concentrate on giving away so someone else will benefit

Japanese Discardia 23 months ago

Seems like the Japanese have their own version of Discardia

I feel that celebrating Discardia will become a regular thing for me.
