a good way to get your splits faster is to put your front leg on a raised object (like a folded mat or a thick dictionary), that trick also works on middle splits. also if you put something under your knees to cushion the weight you can hold your splits longer. also a common mistake is to put both your hands on one side when doing side splits, remember to put your hands on either side of your body. you lose your balance and your weight is distributed unevenly. good luck!
