    “Wow!”
    “Ohhhhhhh!”
    “Oh wow!”

    "Ohhhhhhhh" 7 months ago

In the saddest way, when I told him that Hydra would be sleeping on the couch so he could get up more easily with his recently operated-on knee.

Dodger likes all of us to be there for the fifteen minutes he gets to spend on my knee or shoulder in bed before sleep.

"I love you so good." 8 months ago

He does, too. He really does.

He also has this project with the paper towel tube and the tomatoes that he’s working on…

"Wanna go out?" 18 months ago

The best part of this is that he said it after climbing into his travel cage, which was sitting on the counter.

It was too hot to sit outside by the time he asked. Maybe tomorrow.

    Pear-aahhhhhht! 18 months ago

The way he says “parrot” lately, you’d think he was hollering “pirate!” He’s way into being his rasty parrot self, and proclaiming to all the world that this is the way a parrot commands the room.

“Pear-aaaahhhht!” he calls, and throws himself over sideways, indicating that he wants me to swing my arm back and forth widely while he dangles upside down from one finger. “Aaaaah! Pear-aaahhht!”

I left the house later than I wanted to this morning, because the cute was just too thick to maneuver through quickly.

It was more the attitude than the word... 19 months ago

I walked into the bedroom after a day’s work and who should greet me but Dodger…from atop his cage. I must have forgotten to latch it!

“Helllloooo!” he says, leaning dramatically to the left.

He’d apparently wandered a bit as we discovered a dropping on the opposite side of our bed. But he didn’t get into any real trouble. Whew!

    "Faaa!" 19 months ago

It’s by far Dodger’s favorite note.

I sing “Doe, A Deer” to him sometimes. He sings “Do Re…Fa!” For some reason always skips over the “mi.”

Last night we were practicing a song we’re going to do tonight in front of people and he started bobbing and swaying and singing “Fa!”

Then he turned and said, “So corn!” This is a very high compliment. Corn is a very good thing.

Wish we could take him with us tonight.

“What a good boy you are,” he just said. So true.

"Ooof! Umf!" Heavy sigh. "Oof!" 22 months ago

That’s his color commentary while he watches me exercise to a pilates DVD. Sheesh!
