the paper used in production is 100% recovered having been rescued from trash and recycling bins. each bookmark is unique, one-of-a-kind and handmade in baltimore, marlyand, usa. some find the resultant slight imperfections charming, and we think you should, too.

in the spring of 1993, facing some family budget cuts after moving from boston to baltimore, i started making bookmarks to pay my own way to summer camp. i sold them to extended family, friends, neighbors and church goers. soon, customers were requesting personalized bookmarks for themselves or to give to that special bibliophile in their life. well, I had a busy spring and early summer, selling more than enough to pay my way and was even able to give extra money to the camp’s scholarship fund to help some other kids in the same situation. i called the fledgling production chicken man bookmarks, etc. after a character in one of my favorite books. over the years, i’ve worked in conjunction with other local artists and we’ve evolved into petrnotail press with offerings including stationery, wall art, greeting cards and pamphlets but those same funky little bookmarks are still at the core of what we do. happy reading!

I finished the 3 bookmarks for my friend Hanna, in grad school who needs them, (will be pro-bono), and LAMINATED them using the lamination machine H bought me for xmas last year. Also, ordered a custom stamp online that says, in futura font, no less:
