since I met my husband, I have had to create a holiday wish list. His mother always asked for a list and would divvy it up among his siblings so everyone would actually get what they want. I thought this was GENIUS. We never operated like that in my family. Not that my parents did a bad job, but the idea was so exciting. Then, for each gift you bought for someone, you had to come up with a clever clue. Since it was something on your list, you had to guess what it was. And as long as you took a real guess, you got to open the present.

Now that his Mom has been gone, we still keep this tradition. It went over so well, it has been adopted by my side of the family. Well, at least the wish list, not the clue thing.

So I need to start thinking about it since Hannukah begins the first full week of December. 4 years ago
