Say whatever you want to about her, but I love her to pieces anyways. Sure, she’s got some problems, but being bipolar is a genetic and medical problem, and it’s a struggle, so I don’t think it’s fair to judge someone’s art based on their mental health. I’m sure the drug addictions haven’t helped, but sanity has never been a prerequisite for creative genius in the past anyways, so why now? Her lyrics are awesome – inspiring, empowering, vivid, and wonderful, and she has incredible talent and presence as a performer. I saw her live in an outdoor rock arena in 1999 and to this date it has been the most energetic and powerful performance by a female musician that I’ve seen in my life. And she has great talent as an actress – she was brilliant in The People Vs. Larry Flint. And I know there are a lot of unflattering photos of her all over the internet, but she does clean up nicely :)

My latest discovery – and infatutation. She is like a female version of Jack Johnson. Super mellow and accoustic, with a super soft voice like honey. She’s got this super-tanned California beach girl look about it, which makes me want to go to the beach and buy all new summer clothes! :) Her lyrics are super uplifting and feel-good, so I guess she’s not as aggressive and angsty as some of the other women on this list, but feel-good happy tunes are good too! We can’t be moody all the time :)

Love her. To pieces!! She’s smart, funny, confident, she has a really positive attitude and she’s dripping with courage. She also stands for a lot of really positive things and tries hard to promote a positive body image for women (she refuses to starve herself – instead she’s strong and ripped – or be fake in any way). she’s not afraid to speak her mind and be sincere about things she’s been through.
I like her new stuff a lot better than her older stuff. When she first started, she sounded a bit over-produced and had that record label cookie cutter sound, but now that she’s matured and started doing a lot more of her own thing (some more folk and acoustic stuff instead of club tunes) i love her. Her most recent album is the best, and it’s got great lyrics and a really soulful vibe.

I love her! I love her lyrics, and she sings with a lot of soul, and she’s got great style. She’s gorgeous and she is very comfortable in her own skin, doing her own thing! I like her older stuff better than the bubble-gum radio stuff – i think her first and second albums are the best.

Every time I post an entry of song lyrics, I download a bunch of photos of the artist, so I’m starting to acquire a nice little photo collection!

Has been the most fun to download photos of so far because she’s always wearing these crazy wigs and outfits. She adores playing dress up and getting under the skin of different characters. She has done at least 2 albums (strange little girls and american doll posse) where the liner notes are filled with dress-up pictures. So creative!
