this is the first week i had < 5 drinks. wine is definitely a smaller part of my life now; i’ve been focusing on activities that do not involve it [running & knitting].

bad news – i only gave up alcohol for a week.
good news – i’m averaging about 6 drinks/week which is super close to my goal.

i’m giving up alcohol for 30 days, so i’ll mark this as done when i’m finished with that. i’d been averaging 7-9/wk which is almost close enough.

I have to change the goal to quit drinking completely during normal workdays. Otherwise I would never reach it. I will only allow me to drink on Fridays and Saturdays.

I think I’m about ready to cross this one off. I keep thinking that I’m not achieving this goal, because I might have a week with a more than one social event, or a week with a midweek bottle of wine. But the past few weeks, I’ve definitely had less than 5 drinks each week, so I think it all averages out.
The idea isn’t to never exceed five drinks, but to keep drinking within moderation, and I think I’ve found that.

i havent been drinking that much in recent months, although im not sure if i always have fewer than 5 drinks a week. some weeks its no drinks, some weeks its 3 drinks, some weeks its 7 drinks. it just really depends.
i think i should keep better track of this, and be more aware that i never really should drink more than 2 beers in a nite.

On Monday I had two glasses of wine and two liqours with a friend – makes 4.
Wednesday I drank another glass of wine as I watched tv – makes 1.
Was easier than I expected. Try again next week.

So this was a goal I had last fall that I’d given up on. But I am re-opening it. Boypal and I have instituted a rule that we’re only going to drink once per weekend, and the other night will be a non-drinking night. Last night we sang karaoke, sans liquid courage. If I can do that, I’m sure I can cut my drinks per week down to five.

This week I’ve surpassed the five drink limit, and I’ve still got a day and a half yet. Three beers on Monday when an old friend came to town, three beers on Wednesday at a local bar with some pals, and three beers yesterday while watching a movie with my roommate.
Still, I think if it weren’t for this goal, I would have increased the numbers of beers at each event. And it is pretty rare that I’d have two social outings mid-week, but when they happen, its gotten me to think about factoring them in to the rest of the week. This goal has definitely gotten me to observe my own consumption.
