I found a way to stop the pain of racism and balance the scales of justice.  — 4 months ago

Worth doing!

When I saw the first 10 minutes of the movie I now have at my web site and then read about the “Brown Eyes, Blue Eyes” Experiment by Jane Elliott I got mad and decided to do something about it. I put up a web site and started advertising it so I could help combat racism.

See www.Stop-Racism-Today.com

So far the results have been good. I have found what Ralph Nader said to be true.

“Striving for justice is one of life’s greatest gratifications. In fact, outside of the family, it is the greatest gratification. Without justice, there’s no such thing as liberty and freedom, there’s no such thing as fulfilling life’s possibilities.” ~ Ralph Nader

...the Lord loves justice…” ~ God (Ps 37:28)

“Vindicate the weak and fatherless; Do justice to the afflicted and destitute. Rescue the weak and needy; Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked. ~ God (Ps 82:3-4)

Ok, I’ll do it!

Worth doing!

“I’ve Done This” or “I’ve Given Up.” Well, I haven’t “done this,” because obviously racism is still rampant everywhere we look. And I haven’t “given up,” either. I am opting for the first choice because it’s the closest one to “I’m Continuing to Do This.”

because I think I do this through my words and actions pretty well already.

When you encounter racism...  — 10 months ago

How do you deal with it? I can’t shake this thing a ‘friend’ said weeks ago. This is a girl who I spent a bunch of time with months ago but the more we got to know each other, the more I realized we weren’t really suited to be friends. One night we were heading out night and she made a comment that I found really racist. We got into an argument and became frustrated with each other the entire night. Once we got to the club we both went our seperate ways.
She’s still making an effort to be friends, but I have to say I’m not really interested. A part of me wants to bring up that moment again and explain to her why I find it offensive. I know I probably can’t change her attitudes, but is it worth it to try?

What would you do to stop racism?  — 11 months ago

My husband and I came up with an idea for a design when we were on vacation to try to help stop racism. We decided we wanted to do something about it rather than just talk about it. We started a shop at www.oneracehuman.org where we are selling items with this design on it. We have had so many positive comments on the t-shirts, it is unbelievable.
What I was wondering is what you would you do, if you have the chance, to help stop racism in the world?

a noble goal, but...  — 1 year ago

Racism, classism, sexism, and most other “isms” have existed as long as human societies have, so while I will continue to do my part to be part of the solution and not part of the problem, I am trying to keep my list filled with realistically attainable goals (and trying to make room for new goals).

Depressing  — 1 year ago

how many racists and bigots there are around, and how many people interact with them as if they weren’t dangerous to society.

I’m enraged and wish people would see people for who they are. I’m part mexican and part white and I’m proud of who I am! I have a good heart and that is all that should matter.

Smart to do..  — 1 year ago

Stop racism? Only bringing up the “white v. black” issue, you have two problems:
1. SOME white people are still racists, or have racist ideals.
2. SOME black people are more racist than white people.

Some of the people “fighting racism”, end up causing it. Take, for example, the “About Us” section of Barack Obama’s church’s website :

We are a congregation which is Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian… Our roots in the Black religious experience and tradition are deep, lasting and permanent. We are an African people, and remain “true to our native land,” the mother continent, the cradle of civilization. God has superintended our pilgrimage through the days of slavery, the days of segregation, and the long night of racism. It is God who gives us the strength and courage to continuously address injustice as a people, and as a congregation. We constantly affirm our trust in God through cultural expression of a Black worship service and ministries which address the Black Community.

Trinity United Church of Christ adopted the Black Value System written by the Manford Byrd Recognition Committee chaired by Vallmer Jordan in 1981. We believe in the following 12 precepts and covenantal statements. These Black Ethics must be taught and exemplified in homes, churches, nurseries and schools, wherever Blacks are gathered. They must reflect on the following concepts:

1. Commitment to God
2. Commitment to the Black Community
3. Commitment to the Black Family
4. Dedication to the Pursuit of Education
5. Dedication to the Pursuit of Excellence
6. Adherence to the Black Work Ethic
7. Commitment to Self-Discipline and Self-Respect
8. Disavowal of the Pursuit of “Middleclassness”
9. Pledge to make the fruits of all developing and acquired skills available to the Black Community
10. Pledge to Allocate Regularly, a Portion of Personal Resources for Strengthening and Supporting Black Institutions
11. Pledge allegiance to all Black leadership who espouse and embrace the Black Value System
12. Personal commitment to embracement of the Black Value System.

OK. Now, think that’s not considered racist? Replace the word “black” with “white”. Now, if the church of a white Presidential candidate had the EXACT SAME description, with the exception of the word “black” changed to “white”, do you not think that would cause public outcry of a “white-supremacist” candidate? You and I BOTH know it would. I don’t bring this up to use it against blacks, I bring it up to prove a point. Racism will NEVER end unless people stop calling for an end to racism, while making racist comments and having racist ideals themselves.
These people think they’re not being racist because what they’re doing “isn’t hateful” to another group of people. but racism isn’t only that. It is also, in a different form, the singling out of one or more racial groups form the rest. If non-white races want political, social, and overall total equality, they have to accept that fighting against “racists” may end up turning them into the racists. This is a goal I would love to see reached, but because of the way our society is today, will never be.
