Started last summer after being facinated by how many family members, my parents never told us about, we met at weddings and funerals. The project stalled but I hope to get it started again.

I have been working on my family tree for ten years now. My goal was to get everyone back to the old country, were ever that was. When I first started I did not think that would be that much of a problem. I was Welsh, Scottish, German and Dutch. I cnanot find anything on my father’s grandfather’s family. He was born in Detroit, Mich. I have his date of birth, but I do not know who his parents were or where they came from.
As for my mother’s family it is a mess. Both her mother’s and father’s lines date back to the 1600s and they are still in the United States. One great-great grandmother lived her entire life in Terrytown N.Y., but I cannot find anything on her other than her grandfathers name in her obit.
My grandfather completed a family tree for he and my grandmother. It is very complete so 1/2 my tree is already done and beautifully documented. My father started working on his side and has a lot of source material. After my father died I started to work on it. I would like to at least document what we have in a format that can be passed down through the family
AmyBK8899 is home and happy.
My mom and I are going to do this jointly. We’re starting with her father’s side.
Spent the holiday weekend reminiscing with the family, got quite a few leads on family members I didn’t know anything about…the research continues! It’s like a huge puzzle that just falls so perfectly in place at times, and then at others it feels like there is nothing more to be found…what a fascinating hobby! :)
