Leaving in two days 6 months ago

Just trying to finish things up at work and at home before we trek off to Greece on May 14. The to do list is long, but I’m already beginning to go to Greece mentally—I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. It’s wonderful to realize (again) how powerful the mind is. Nothing has changed, but I’m acting as if it has because of anticipation. I could live like this all the time… and I don’t have to go to Greece to do it…

We're going! 7 months ago

We’re heading to Greece May 14-June 4, spending a week on Santorini. We’re dropping some bucks to stay at a dream destination called Aris Caves. (We’re doing hostels the rest of the time…) I can’t wait!

Been there, done that. 2 years ago

Had a great time. WEather was awesome! Thought it was quite expensive compared to other Greek Islands, but very calm and peaceful (went 23-30/6).

41degrees and beautiful sunshine.

I went through a nervous breakdown after my Mom died and decided it was time to live the life I had always wanted. It also just happened my Dad wanted to help me out I paid half my ticket and went it alone with a friend. It was the first time I had ever left the country on my own. It was an amazing life lesson and it taught me that I can do anything. I would say it was a passage into adulthood.

I first found out about Santorini during the Olympics, and it is true they have the most amazing sunsets. I would suggest getting a ticket straight to Athens and take the ferry or enjoy a close country such as Italy and take the ferry to Corfu, Greece then to Athens and then do some Island hopping. The Greeks are very friendly and speak many languages. Hostels are a great help to the thrifty traveler.

Some suggestions: find a nice little Hostel close to the beach, rent an ATV if you can’t ride a moto. I wouldn’t recommend the Island of Ios if your over the age of 21.

The island can be thoroughly enjoyed in about 3-5 days, some must see’s are Perrissa Beach, Red Beach, The Light House, and of course the Caldera.

Greece is relatively inexpensive, safe, and worth it!

my one "thing" 2 years ago

years ago i saw a program on the learning channel about greece, and more specifically santorini. it was about the history of the area, and how legend says that that is the location of atlantis. i remember looking at the beautiful magical location, and wanting to go there. ever since that is the one place i want to go. i want to save lots of money, get the best hotel, eat the best food, and make the best memories in this beautiful place i have dreamed of going. a few years ago the cast of the real world on mtv got to go there on a vacation and it looked just as beautiful as i had remembered thinking it was from before. i cant wait to someday go myself. i hope to go with my husband as a celebration for when we have gotten over this hard time in our life.
