Most amazing thing I’ve ever done. Birthing Centers/Home Births are the way to go!
I had a waterbirth in the hospital with a midwife this past November. It is so worth it and you CAN find hospitals that will do this but they are few and far between. I had my son at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. This is my 2nd drug free birth but my first waterbirth. I really reccomend it!
...and there was NO way my doc was going to let me get in a tub because they were monitoring the baby so closely. It was disappointing, but my son arrived safely, and for that I’m grateful.
I have a while to go before I have to worry about any kind of birthing, but when I do, this is how I want to do it. I saw it on TV once & have heard good things. It seems like the way to go for me!
I did this at a hospital near my house which has waterbirthing rooms, so I got the best of both worlds. I had the midwife and the waterbirth, but I knew the hospital was there to back me up if anything went wrong. I didn’t have any meds, and being in the water really helped me get through it. Also it just felt right. If I have another baby I will definately do this again!
I mean, the baby spends 9 months swimming around in warm liquid, then gets shoved out into cold air for the first time in a delivery room. I would probably cry, too!
I am expecting my first child on 3rd November 2005. In an ideal world the birth will be in a birthing pool, as I have heard very good things about this and have always found water relaxing.
