OMG!!!!! 18 months ago

I got a promotion! I’m still an Administrative Assistant but now I’m at level 2. I guess there’s three levels. I received about a 12% raise. To compare, the average raise that most people received was a 3.5%. This is the biggest raise I’ve ever received here. Woohoo!!!!

Finally! 18 months ago

My review is Monday at 1pm.

Here’s part of the email from my boss:
I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised. (I hope)...

No review yet! Maybe next week?!? I’m ready for it!

I’m at work now, not feeling all too motivated. I should have taken the whole week off. There’s hardly anyone here. YAWN!

more good news 19 months ago

We had our company xmas lunch party today. The COO told us that the money allocated for raises is bigger than it was last year. Woohoo! Also, they are giving us an extra day off, 12/31. Yay!

ask and ye shall receive 19 months ago

Today I asked my director if my review would be with him and my manager. He said “possibly”. I said that I also work for three other managers and he asked “would you like to have a group review?” I declined but told him I was preparing a package. He then said that my review is going to be favorable (YAY!!) and that he could be in it with my manager.

The thing I think is backwards though, is that they (upper management) all decide who’s getting promotions and raises before they give the reviews. How are you then suppose to persuade them to give you something else? For them to take into consideration what you have to say, are you suppose to wait until next year’s review then? Seeing as I now know my review is favorable, I’m not so worried about it…but I hope the favorable part is a raise and title change (promotion).

list 20 months ago

-Discuss a title change (maybe promotion). I’ve been an Administrative Assistant long enough and I definitely have enough experience. I don’t have a Bachelors degree yet but I don’t think I need one unless I wanted to be a Manager. Now that my job duties are different I feel it warrants a different title. Administrative Coordinator, Publications Coordinator, Quality Coordinator, Publications Analyzer…I think I’ll push for Coordinator. (already typed out a list, might look online for more ideas)

-Provide documentation of the new tasks I’ve done. Let them know that it was my decision to take on more. (have a few handy, need to pull some more)

-Let them know I’m willing to take on more tasks if needed and I’d be willing to work overtime (right now my Dept. Manager won’t let me work overtime but I’m not sure our Director knows and hasn’t been wondering why I’m not putting in any overtime anymore)

-Discuss my idea to improve turnaround time of our reports to make our customers more satisfied (need to get documentation together for this)

-Let them know that my health has improved therefore my attendance has improved (this is major)
