How to swim with sea turtles by caffdolphgrl

How I did it: I actually should have listed "diving" with sea turtles since that's what I've done.  I first did this in Hawaii where snorkeling was also readily available so non-divers could also have this experience.  I have since dove with turtles in Cozumel, Freeport, and Nassau.  I find them to be fascinating animals and love to swim and dive next to them.

Lessons & tips: Remember not to touch them since they are endangered and it's a big no, no but swimming and diving next to them is good enough for me.

    At 2 separate locations we did this! My parents were visiting us and we were all able to swim with turtles just like last year. It never fails to be an amazing experience!

    The most surreal experience of my life!

    The greek island of Zante has several beaches that I believe are some of the last nesting grounds for this endangered tutrle, after comprehending several ‘turtle watching trips’ we went down to beach only to discover if you were patient and observant then you would see turtles swiming very close to the shore, and with a simple pair of trusty goggles one can swim but meters away from them in cyrstal clear water and experience there “amazingness”

    I always do! My husband and I went swimming in a nice little enclosed area over the weekend, and as we were splashing around having fun, we saw a turtle pop up to the surface a few feet away from us. Always a glorious sight, I love watching them gracefully float in the water like an angel :D

    The last few days that my husband and I have been going out to the ocean, we have seen a ridiculous amount of turtles! On one occasion, there were 6 turtles floating near the entrance of the water eating seaweed (limu) and we were around them in the water by default. Another time, there were 4 and I could feel their shelled bodies against my legs as I got out of the water; it was awe inspiring as always!

    My parents, my husband and I all stayed at the Hilton recently, and there is this gorgeous lagoon area there where lots of turtles hang out by the waterfall. We all had a chance to go swimming there, and were surrounded by the turtles; it was crazy! They were extremely playful and kept following us all around in the water :) By default we ended up being in physical contact with the turtles since they were that close to us. It was pretty wild having a good 5 turtles encircling us!
