LauralyBeautiful /Patient as stars, they build in air
From August, Gabriel in diaper and handknitted soaker in the wilds of the garden

and munchin’ on a bean. Yum.

There is just something I love about the second picture. I think it’s beautiful!

but I was wanting to upload a photo of a very happy Gabriel wearing his soaker in the garden… and I haven’t been able to find the camera upload cord since. So if I ever do find it, I’ll post the picture of my completed project.
All in all, I’m very pleased with it, but even more so with Gabriel’s happiness with it! I will probably make another, a newborn size, for the baby so I can cloth diaper from day one.

I let Gabriel pick out the color wool he wanted (he was delighted with that) and I’ve got a little bit started so far.
I had started back in January with another one but that was too big and my gauge was all messed up.
This is the pattern I’ve been using.

This little project only took a few knitting sessions—it was surprisingly easy. I think I will add ribbing along the leg openings on the next one, and make the i-cord thinner so it’s not too bulky.

I found an easy pattern online, did a gauge swatch, and started this little bugger this afternoon! Since it’s sized for a newborn, it looks like it’s going to go quickly!

are diaper covers! I had no idea that this existed, knitted diaper covers, but since I first read about them on a knitting blog (Stephanie Jappel’s glampyre), they keep springing up in my life. A knitting friend of mine told me that a person really only needs two, as they are treated with lanolin, don’t leak, repel liquid, and only really need to be washed every two weeks or so. Neato, and better than plastic!
