a close-up of the faux finished wall, as per request, heh
(i’ll be honest, this whole entry was just copied verbatim [except for comments in brackets] from an email i sent to cordelia :)
the planning board meeting went well, namely for the fact that after the two hour meeting of mostly requests for small time variances on ordinances (like people asking to put a deck in their backyard that was closer than 15 feet away from a shed, say only 11 ft, and asking for a ‘4 foot variance’ [from the 15 foot town requirement]) the old lady in front of us made a statement during the public comment period that she would come to every meeting and do everything in her power to stop the wal-greens from knocking down the harwan!
her name is anne ollie and she’s lived in the town forever
she’s basically exactly the person we need on our side, and she lives right across the street from the harwan! heh, for example of her awesomeness, i quote (poorly) from our conversation while walking back to her house:
me: so do you have a pen so that we can exchange phone numbers & contact information?
anne: i live across the street.
hehe – she might be a little on the “too old to be taken seriously by the planning board” side of age (that was odd phrasing, heh – she’s like 70-75) but i think if we work together it’ll be a beautiful union [i personally think she’s fit & definitely way more sensible & cognizant than the town’s engineer seemed to give her credit for, but yar]
she has all the practical experience of living in a TOWN and loving the community theater, while i just have the dream
[and i suppose a good helping of positivity & practical action, heh]
ps – if anyone is reading this, i’d appreciate any comments or links to people/organizations/websites that you think could help me out in this task – i’ve never done such a thing before, thank you!
:D!
