Having now lived in the Netherlands for about 3 years, I’m happy to say that I can pretty much speak the language fluently. Yes, I do have some gramma-errors, but I can get into a conversation, follow it and participate in it as good as any other.
My method on learning Dutch is the following:
- Get yourself a magazine about something that interests you.
- Read it !
- Try to speak to people. Yes, you’ll make a fool out of yourself, but the locals will enjoy your effort.
- Don’t give up – it will work !

Ik spreek nederlands. Maar.. ik wil en andere itensive cursis doen omdat ik kan niet zo goed schrijven. Toch?
