Currently, all I do is walk around places. I want a higher level of exercising than just walking. I want a GYM membership. I’ll keep everyone posted on how this goes.
How I did it: 1. Bought a mini elliptical machine for $90 on Amazon to be my exercise of last resort: even if I don't want to go outside or make it to the gym. Set up my computer on a bookshelf in front of the elliptical to use while doing the elliptical, watch hulu, etc. 2. Restarted weight-lifting following the program in the book _New rules of lifting for women_.3. Participated in Spark People, which gives me … Read how I did it…
How I did it: My friends and I bought semester passes to take aerobics classes together. It's fun and we all push each other to keep going. I go about once or twice a week now. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I finally looked at myself and decided that I'm not taking care of my body, and yet I'm so young and I have the resources and time to take care of it. So I finally decided that it was time to change! Read how I did it…
How I did it: I started playing wii fit. It's fun and I didn't think I would ever find a way to exercise and it be fun. I recomend for anyone that wants to exercise but gets bored of it to try this. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I researched online, and was able to find a plan I could live with. I am now training for a half marathon, and soon after a full marathon! It is really easy, once you decide that you want to do it. Read how I did it…

Well… things have been going up and down. The weekend was a bust, zero exercising for various reasons. On Sunday I started getting a weird headache that did not subside until late Monday night. Can someone get exercise withdrawal??? Anyhow, Monday I decided to battle through it so I went 33 minutes on the bicycle and a few reps on the weight machines (minimal really). I don;t remember the exact calories (160-200 maybe). Yesterday nothing again and today 14 minutes on the treadmill, maximum incline (.67 miles, 135 calories), 3 rounds of crunches and 2 rounds on the weight machines (again, not sure what it’s called, the one where you have to bring your arms together). I feel kind of lousy and week actually. By the time I was done with the treadmill I could feel getting woozy and my energy was at an all time low. It frustrates me being so weak!
Well, I decided to forgo some of the ironing in favor of exercising. I did the top of the pile (about 1hr) and left the rest for later. So I ended up bicycling for 33 minutes uphill (10.7 miles, 167 calories) and played wii for about 40 minutes. Today I really want to start working on my midsection. That’s where the big problem is… It’s just I hate crunches :( Maybe I should try pilates…
Yesterday I pushed myself a bit harder, but I am not sure I liked it :( I ran/walked uphill for 13 minutes (65 calories) and then bicycled uphill for 33 minutes (135 calories). By the end of it I was feeling a little woozy. After a short break I did some weight lifts for my arms and 3 sets each on two of those weight machines. Today though might be a bust… I have a sky-high pile of laundry waiting to be ironed and no food in the fridge, so housework might take precedence. Do 3-4 hours of ironing count as a workout? Does anyone know how many calories that would burn.
Oh.. also, current weight: 129.4. It finally went down 1 measly pound. I am trying really hard though to focus on how I feel and not on the scale.
Yesterday was a lousy days… I woke up later than usual, feeling more tired and sluggish. I wanted to keep up with the workouts so I forced myself to get on the treadmill and instead of running I started walking uphill (15% and then 10% towards the end and then 0% for the cool off. Speed only 2.5, 3 at the highest for a little bit). It was great really… I was talking to my parents on the phone the whole time (I was behind in catching up with them, I only get to see them once a year or so), so that helped distract me. Also, does talking while exercising help or hurt? I have no idea.. Anyhow, I don’t know how many calories it was because while still on the phone I forgot to check and turned off the stupid machine. Oh, well.. I’ll just have to do it again today.. although I am thinking of taking a day off… Maybe I just need some rest from it. While usually I feel really energized after a workout, yesterday it just made me feel more tired. I ended up falling asleep twice during the day and had to resort to caffeine to get through the afternoon. Hope today will be better. I think I’ll just stick to playing some wii…
Yesterday, was a slow day, felt tired and couldn’t bring myself to do much. In the evening I forced myself to start playing some wii tennis and that helped. Suddenly I felt energized and kept playing for about an hour. Today however started off great. I woke up wanting to go to the gym (thankfully my building has one right on the same floor with the apartment, love convenience :)). So I went with the flow and bicycled uphill for 36 minutes (154 calories), then walked a little uphill, did three rounds of sit ups, and worked on my arms on the weight machine. I don’t really know what they’re called but I did 3 rounds on one and 3 on the other. So, all in all, it was a good day I think :)
I finally managed to get myself started a few days ago and it feels great so far. I am actually finding myself wanting to exercise sometime (nothing hardcore, just simple things to get me moving). This is what I did so far:
Day 1 (four days ago): ran/walked for 20 minutes on the treadmill and played wii (tennis, bowling) for 1 hour.
Day 2 (two days ago): bicycled for 33 minutes and did some sit ups (machine said only 95 calories :()
Day 3: yesterday – played wii for about 30-40 minutes (baseball and tennis).
Day 4 (today): bicycled for 33 minutes (85 calories) and walked uphill for 15 minutes (53 calories). But I am dying to play wii… I don;t know about you, I really break a sweat when I play and my hands actually feel sore… I must be completely out of shape. Well, either way, I am moving again so I am counting that as a win.
Ugh I’m so unmotivated. I’m (soon to be) 38 and I know I’m in the worst shape of my life. I have been planning to start exercising daily for some time. The planning is good, but the follow through is weak!
Elizabeth is trying to finish studying for her Biochemistry test
I’ll start after my biochem test….or after finals…or after life….
NOW
I joined a local gym two weeks ago and I went 6 times this week! Cardio every day combined with weight lifting every other day.
