Read the news 8 months ago

read online today, is so easy doing it online. I read it while I was at school and had some extra time. Its convenient that way! :) I like being informed of what is going on in the world, it makes me feel more mature and its just good to know what is happening around me instead of being in my little bubble.

Read it. 8 months ago

I had a goal for this reading week to read two articles this week and I did! heh it’s an improvement :P
I’ll try to keep this up, I like to read it I guess I just don’t think about it or don’t put aside the time to do it in the mornings.

Lately, going well 12 months ago

I’ve been reading the newspaper more and more and feel more in touch with the world and the latest news. It makes me feel more mature lol good luck everyone. I find reading an article with breakfast works best for me, I enjoy it.

Back in my University days I took advantage of a fantastic offer that was run by the student union. To combat the generally learning apathy that the student of Northumbria University so often suffered they subsidised the sale of broadsheet newspapers. Twenty pence would pick you up a copy of Guardian, Times, Telegraph – whatever you fancied.

Even with the launch of everyone’s favourite marketing tool, the free Metro newspaper I still picked up a Guardian every morning. This daily routine sharp came to an end after leaving due to having to pay full price but working in a soulless call centre in Newcastle gave me occasional opportunity to peruse the daily news.

However, as my career changed to working for the local council I found myself chained to a computer with pretty much unfettered internet access. This gave me the chance to check countless sites, digest news from all manner of sources (Thank you Google) but also, to read interesting features I usually would have overlooked.

At present I am working for a housing company whose internet procedure isn’t quite so lax – as a result by internet scouring is limited to the occasional glance at my iPhone. Sadly the reception where I work is far from the 3g maximum and makes browsing a bit of pain. The majority of my internet time is put in at home, where I take in a full days worth of news stories as quickly as possible thanks to the wonder of RSS.

This technological regression of sorts has left a news hole that needs filling. I would like to start purchasing a daily newspaper and read it for at least 20-30 minutes. I’m more than happy to stick with the Guardian as my news source but I would ideally like to find some kind of pre payment voucher scheme to keep the costs down. This might limited my choices of newspapers.

I read the sunday paper religiously 18 months ago

My mom only buys it for the coupons. I hop on NYtimes.com all the time as well. I’d say I’m fairly well informed.

black & white & read all over 21 months ago

Okay, I got to get a jump on this one. I will read one article on the online newspaper site each day as a start to this goal and then maybe I can get to reading more and more or the actual paper in the morning.

im thinking of taking this one off my list. I always end up buying the paper and never reading it. The problem is that the newspapers around these small town parts only write about whether a ladybug has been seen in this frigid weather and honestly I have more important things to do. Maybe I should replace the newspaper with something stimulating like Time or McLeans. hmm.

A good idea 2 years ago

I was reminded yesterday about how I always wanted to do this growing up and now I enjoy doing it. It’s far better than watching the news which is much more exploitive and ends up worrying you/ not providing real details.

I might make a shirt that says “News: The worst reality show on TV”

also www.bbc.co.uk Good news source.

on a snowday.... 2 years ago

I just went out to get the mail a while ago because it’s SNOWING.

Anyway, the friday paper was there also, and I just finished going though it and reading stuff. Nothing too amazing yet. I think it’s just my paper. Whatever. I’ve made my second effort though. Now I just have to hope that I keep up the habbit, and then I can say that I’ve done this.

We’ll see.

well, I started this last night. But, there wasn’t really anything good that I could find.

Now, I’ll just have to do it more often.
