Yes! I am going to say yes, as we have now saved what we originally budgeted for the wedding and travel. It won’t be the total that we’ll spend, but we are trying carefully to stay close.
How I did it: We saved monthly to meet our goal as well as contributing "extra" money (birthday, xmas, dog sitting etc) when it became available. We utilized coupons where we could and we also looked into group rates for excursions that we would go on around the wedding day (as we are having a destination wedding). We regularly reviewed our budget to make sure if we were able to stay on track or not, and kept track of what was paid, and what we still had to pay for.

Woohoo! We have saved the money that we have budgeted for the wedding. Now if we are on target that will be another feat! Now it’s saving some extra for the “surprises” that come up and for travel expenses! I’m very relieved with how well we’ve done so far :)

We’ve been saving and are doing great. We still have a ways to go, but it feels good!

Well, I wasn’t able to save any of my tax refund to the wedding due to necessary (eye care and car care) costs. However, I have dumped my whole stimulus check into the fund! woohoo!
Also, we are going to be keeping the money in a money market account until needed.

I need to make extra income for my wedding. Since I have other payoff goals, I don’t want to compromise those too much and I don’t want to fall back into the cc trap.
Here are my ideas:
1. Save all extra $$$ I get. Extra $$ is Tax Refund (some of it-some of it will pay off other items); the rebate that will come in May (around May). Bday $$, Xmas $$, any work bonus (if I’m still there…hopefully not though!!), etc.
2. Sell stuffs online; all the extra stuff I have sitting around that I don’t use.
3. get a pt job. Any suggestions on a part time job that could earn me over $10/hour?

So, we’re getting closer to establishing a date and location, but now it looks like 2009.
We are also starting to save in a sub account that I currently have, so as to set aside $$ specifically for wedding expenses. Yea!

I think this might be hard to accomplish. Seeing as, we’re looking at March for a cc payoff, and the wedding is probably going to be at the end of 2008 (somewhere between June and Nov.) Really, that’s not that far away! I am still going to be strong about this, we’re going to make a budget that is modest (I will not be spending over double digit thousands on the wedding) and not give up! Will keep updating!
