Ice-Breaker 12 months ago

I’m on my own for the first time, so this is going to be a little tricky. I never really had my friends back at home because it was so boring.:P I’m a little worried because I’d want everybody to be entertained.

I need to upgrade! Get a couple board games, a few conversation pieces, party food and stuff. Need to get my computer back so I can set up my dance pad…AND CLEAN EXTENSIVELY FIRST.

Faustus is in unfamiliar territory!

Well, 17 months ago

friends called me up and said they want to come over… twice within a week (once, I would’ve related it to some uncertainty principle, but twice, hmmm!), so I think this is on a track… of some sort. No need to push beyond natural boundaries… there actually is, but give me a break, will ya? :)

this month so far. Once lured a few friends with the promise of ice-cream, and made them suffer watching a stupid movie. And then, my previous roommate and his wife stayed with me for a few days until they got their own place. In this case, I felt more like a guest… they cooked, cleaned, and organized, and I mostly watched. :)

I must be lacking a hosting gene and I’m enjoying it :)

nothing like board games and card games with buddies!

You know... Does anyone really CARE... 3 years ago

that my wood-blinds have been “customized” by the dog? Or that our kitchen project is sorta stalled mid-repair and so my kitchen’s kinda ugly (but still functional) at present? Or that my carpet needs to be cleaned? Or that my furniture is kinda worn-out and hand-me-down? Or that I have dog-hair “tumble-weeds” in some neglected corners? Or that paint’s chipping on some window sills (also the dogs’ handi-work)? I could actually go on and on about “what’s wrong” with my house.

The answer’s a resounding, “NO!”
FRIENDS will not care about those things when (not IF) I invite them over. They will, however, appreciate my hospitality, admire my “treasures” – rock collections, books, arrowheads, plants, etc. (nothin’ fancy), ooh and ahh over my pictures, love on my doggies, and edify my life in the same way I edify theirs.

I’m tired of waiting til things are “nice enough.” I’m nice enough and that’s enough.

...when I added this goal I thought no problem! This should be easy! People over! I love people over!

I haven’t had one person over to my house since I added this goal. I am in a rather friend-slump right now, and maybe now I know why…

okay - digging out my messy house! 3 years ago

One of my favorite ten-year-olds (former student) and her mom and siblings are visiting tomorrow. They’ve never been to my house and I’m so excited, because they’re really precious people. I think I’m going to make cheese fondue and chocolate fondue. It should be fun!

At least once a month... 3 years ago

for dinner and board games or movies, in 2006. So fun and cheap and a good incentive to clean my house! Gotta do this!
