knit and assemble a warm up america blanket

I finished off the edging last night and used up the rest of my black yarn as a little extra embroidery. It’s done! I’m pretty happy with it. It’s imperfect, but it’s colorful and it’ll keep someone warm.

I’m actually thinking about giving my blanket to Project Linus. I’ve never been able to get in touch with Warm Up America and a few people on ravelry have suggested Project Linus. I’d like to give it to someone local, and it’s the sort of thing a teenager would love. I guess if they get back to me, I’ll give it to them…

I finished off the last of the sewing, so now it’s all assembled! I want to start on the edging this weekend and get that moving along…

I skipped doing French homework last night, hoping that I could get all of the strips sewn together. I got a good bit done, but I just couldn’t finish them off. I even spent a half-hour this morning working on them, but I still have more to do. It’s just slow going… I have one and a half seams to finish. I think that’s like an hour and change worth of work, depending on how fast I am.

On the other hand, I know that I can get it sewn up by the weekend and be ready to crochet the edging. I think I’ll just do something simple so it doesn’t roll, rather than doing something fancy.

I’m not a fan of sewing, but now I have seven seams to go. It’s slow going, but I’m doing it… I got most of the way through one last night before I made myself go to bed. After I do that, I need to do some embroidery and fancying up to it. I also want to give it a crocheted edging, since it really curls in places.

It’s not going to be a beautiful blanket, but it is going to be really thick and warm…

I have 11 inches to go. Last night I sewed together nearly everything and finished off the other strip. The remaining one is one patch and change short. I want to just finish it off, but I’m trying to pace myself. Knitting is a treat for getting my French homework done, else I would never spend any time on my other projects…

I knit up four squares for this yesterday at the movies, so I’m doing well on the knitting front. There are a lot of squares sitting around that I need to join together, probably enough to get me really close to those last two strips. I really enjoy doing this goal more than I enjoy the things I should be doing, so I’m going to take a break from it until I get through my todo list for today.

I also need to figure out where I’m going to send it once I’m done…

Right now I have 6 of the 49 recommended rectangles done to make a full sized afghan.
