This is one of those ultimate things that I just want to do in life, right up there with attending the Mardi Gras.

eightofeight is clearing her mind, heart soul and life of clutter, little by little
I did it once and it was a horrible experience, which was a big let down. I wanted it to be this wonderful thing. so I tried again, several years later, and again it was horrible.
I’m sure others have had amazing experiences with this event, but for me it was not worth it at all.
I thought it was going to be a nightmare, but it was actually a lot of fun! Definitely something to do once (and probably only once) in your lifetime. Definitely go one year when it’s not too cold outside. And try to get as close to 42nd street at you can.
It was heady and it was fun and it was memorable- but bear in mind that they cordone off times square when it starts getting dark (approx. 4:30 when I was there.) So prepare to stay within that area. And do everything there. For eight hours. Eat, drink, pee, stand out in the cold. This year I’m going to party my brains out indoors- warm and with booze!
i’ll have an apartment for this new years in la citta. :-D and i have a friend living in the city who will be there that i can hang out with. looks like it may happen this year! i sure hope so.
llong wants to do every task consciously and sacredly
....1,000,000 screaming drunk people, marking the march of time, shorter of breath and a year closer to death, without any real accomplishment other than the $4 Funfare subway card.
unless that’s part of your goal, then go for it! but you can buy a ticket for food, drinks, dancing, and fun at a restaurant within view of times square (check rosie o’grady’s), do that the few hours til just before midnight, go out on the street five minutes before, get the whole atmosphere, watch the ball drop, sing the songs, it’s craziness! then go back into the restaurant while the police clear the streets, and take the subway home a few hours later when the crowds are all gone. it costs a little money, but trust me, it was awesome!!
