cranraspberry postponing most of my goals to focus on a few at a time.
Well, turns out the fabric I thought was waterproof wasn’t waterproof. It leaked all the way through – pad, undies, and jeans. I was outside and it was dark, so I don’t think anyone noticed…now I’m kind of bummed I have to go get the stains out.
I did an experiment with that ‘waterproof’ fabric, and it only holds water for a little while. Then, it slowly starts leaking through.
So now I have to find some REAL waterproof fabric. The only store in town doesn’t have anything. What am I to do, cut up a tarp??

Its amazing! I am so proud of my craftiness!!
I tried it on and its the most comfortable thing ever. And its so orange and pink and pretty!
Its just a simple, 8” circle – a layer of fleece on top, a layer of terry cloth, a layer of PUL (which I couldn’t find, so I used some soft, waterproof vinyl or whatever it was), and a layer of cotton. Attached some snaps, and voila! Took me 20 minutes for the first, 10 for the second.
I can’t wait for my period so I can try it out! (My ovaries are kicking, I’m sure it will be any hour now…)

(the one I’m going to try is second from last – the Circle pad).
I’m stopping at the fabric store tomorrow morning and getting the fabrics, then sewing it tomorrow night.
What prompted this is that my period is almost here, I can feel it coming…I hope I make it in time, I don’t want to use any disposables anymore, eugh!

I’ve searched all over…I can’t find it anywhere! May have to order it online.
Now that I’m on winter break, I have time to sew.

Summer Routine
Just noting that in summer, the routine must be different… Salt in the water is enough for winter or colder spring months, but in summer, the warm attic is no good, pads must be kept soaked in the cellar where it’s cool, I tried adding conventional washing powder mom uses & it worked well..
Now I wonder what would be more ‘nature friendly’?

More choices

More shipments from eBay have arrived, I am spoiled for choice now! Love the awesome assortment that I have, next job is to make a pretty fabric bag to store them in.

Wow, I am an eBay addict now. I have had three shipments of pads arrive, and love them all! More are on the way, various shapes, sizes, patterns, fabrics, weights. How can you NOT smile when using a flannelette pad printed with cheeky grinning monkeys on it? LOL

I couldn’t believe how much more comfortable cloth is than
plastic pads. One of the best things I have ever done.
not much grosser than disposable pads, either. I encourage all women to check into this. I have sewn a few pads of my own, but I find that Lunapads are worth the price. The cotton fleece is wonderful.

So, I just made it through my period using cloth lunapads exclusively! It wasn’t all that hard, and I didn’t mind washing them out. They were bulkier than I would’ve liked, but I think I need to try the smaller sizes to combat that problem. The nifty thing about them is that the inserts go over the part that atatches to your panties, so you just switch that part out whenever you need to.

I am using smaller pads, changing more often… (bulkier just for the night) & so far, my back is happy!! YAY!!
