I just returned a short time ago from my (hopefully) last visit to the ER for antibiotic treatment. It’s slightly better again today, with the redness pretty much gone and the pain a little better. The swelling hasn’t gone down any from yesterday, but the nurse told me that that’s pretty normal, usually the swelling is the last thing to completely go away. Starting tomorrow morning I will take an oral antibiotic and hopefully this nasty stuff will clear up once and for all.
I still need to try and keep my leg elevated most of the time, at least I have that nasty IV out, so I now have full use of my right hand again. Which means I should be able to sneak in more computer time (after I eat breakfast and take a nap)!

I made my trip back to the ER early this morning for my second dose of antibiotic. My leg is feeling a little better, the swelling has gone down about two inches and the redness has lessened slightly. However, it’s not improved enough to allow me to stay in my warm bed until a reasonable hour tomorrow morning, so I’ll be making the trip one more time.
Thank you, everyone, for all of your very kind get-well messages. They mean as much to me as do the ones from my family and (real-life) friends.

because it saved my life, so obviously it was worth it.
not because I particularly enjoyed it and no I don’t want to do it again, but will if my life is at risk

Early this morning I decided that my leg, which had been hurting for a few days (nothing abnormal about that for me) was red and swollen enough to warrant a trip to the ER to have it checked out. I was very relieved to find out I didn’t have a blood clot, but not so lucky to be sent home with weird looks from the staff for bothering them with nothing.
It turns out I have an infection of the deep-layer skin cells know as cellulitis which required a dose of IV antibiotics followed by another trip to the ER tomorrow morning for another dose. The doctor will decide then if I need to return for another day or two for more IV treatments or if I can switch to oral medicine. Meanwhile, for the next few days I’m to take it easy and keep my leg elevated. He gave me some pain medicine, but it doesn’t really hurt too bad, so I’m holding off on it.
I talked to my dad and one of my sisters, I had a call earlier from Tiger and TG on their trip, a friend just brought me by lunch and some movies, Bella is outside barking in chorus with the neighbor dogs, so I’m all set.
