Starting Off

After achieving my BMI goal of 21, I wanted to do even more to improve my health. Body Fat percentage is also an indicator of overall health and since I know I have an issue with sweets… I thought it’d be a good idea to also track it.
I bought a cool new Health O Meter Scale that calculates weight, BMI, and Body Fat Percentage.
It appears that I am wavering between 25% and 22% body fat. That is considered the average range for females. But since I want to be in the best shape possible, I’m going to see if I can’t slowly work my way down to a consistent 20%. Not sure if I will ever be able to get below that (I think I’d miss the occasional treat too much!).

I’ve always struggled a bit with my weight. I’ve been fortunate that I’ve led a somewhat active lifestyle and that it has never gotten too out of hand. I’ve come to the conclusion that I’ll never be 115 pounds like the rest of my friends. 125 pounds is hard enough to achieve. So I’m changing my goal: numbers on the scale don’t matter. The percentage of body fat does.
I joined a gym when I moved to my new city recently, and along with my new membership came 3 training sessions with a personal trainer. The first one was a body assessment. This was on Oct. 22/07. I’m going to go in and get another assessment done on Jan. 22/08 and see how I’m getting along. Granted, I’ve fallen off the wagon a few times (an understatement?), but I think I’m getting into the routine.
Here are my stats:
Neck: 33cm
Shoulders: 104cm
Ab 1: 66cm
Ab 2: 71cm
Gluteus: 97cm
Right thigh: 61cm
Lean to Fat ratio: 2.9 to 1
Percentage of Body Fat: 25.9%
On Jan. 22/07, I hope to have a body fat percentage of 23%. After all, there’s a little thing called the Christmas season between now and then. :)
