I’m giving up on this secret thing, which was my cover for “find a new job”.
I’ve just had a chat with the chick from HR and my boss and spilled the beans about our planned move to Ireland. You should have seen my boss relax!
We made a deal that my boss will delegate work to me she feels comfortable with me doing, as she has hardly any confidence in my technical skills. This means that it’s clearer what I’m meant to do and I can relax a little. I can stop trying to impress my boss when I am focussed on leaving rather than making a big career in my current company.
I feel very relieved and hope that the last months here will be a bit smoother than 2007 has been. I’d rather leave Amsterdam with the feeling that I did something right than going “thank god I’m seeing the back of her”, and I hope the same goes for her, too. I am piscean, I have a need to harmonise and make everybody’s life lovely and peachy, so the impression I leave behind is, even though inconsequential, still of some importance. It also helps to let go when you’re letting go happily.
